I like Duncan more. He has proven what he can do. Duncan was on the All NBA team since his rookie year. He helped turn around the franchise and he has won 2 championships. Most of all I like Duncan because he is not cocky or a showoff. He just delivers and does his job well.

It actually depends really. If you want finesse, i would prefer Duncan over Amare. But if you are after power and strength, its gotta be Stoudamire. Amare has more powerful dunks and is more athletic for a big guy. Hell, he can dunk the ball between his legs for what i know. He uses power to outwit defenders. Though he has not the same shooting like Duncan has, but he sure can take off defenders on the dribble. Now, Duncan is more of an intelligent player, but i don't mean that Amare is stupid. Duncan is the kind of player who has a couple of tricks under his sleeves, or should i say jersey. He can hit the 15 footer. He can hit Bank shots. He can block shots. And he can score to, if he really wants to.
But since i am more of a Suns fan than a Spurs fan, i go cheer for Amare instead of Duncan.

if i'd build a franchise around either of these guys, i'd pick tim duncan. tim duncan has everything a big man should have. good low post moves, solid rebounder and defender and a good leader. timmy works his way towards the basket to get his points and rebounds. amare on the other hand is a set player. he's deadly on the open court and unstoppable on the run. the drawback of amare? he needs somebody to dish him the ball. he'd always find a hard time getting his point alone. though he's a good defender and a big man, he's inconsistent at times, especially if there's no steve nash.
if i watch organized basketball, tim duncan would be the choice, but if i'd take showtime basketball, amare is the best pick.

I am more of a Suns fan so I like Amare Stoudomire more. But if you ask me who is currently the better player, then I would say Duncan. He has more experience what with the 2 championship rings and the exoerience of playing with the best NBA players like jordan, barkley, robinson, etc. But give Amare 2 to 3 more years and I think he would be better than Duncan.
