Differences in meaning and use of certain similar words

Can you please mention some of the words which can be used alternatively with slightest difference in meaning, just like Situation - Position - Condition.

well,i think you mean synonym,there are some dictionaries do list the words similar,and compare them. for example,prevent,stop,restrain,or we can use phrase,keep somebody from doing something,hold back... sometimes i think the difference is oral and written,they may be used in different occasions.

yes,i know some international sites that can download audios free. one is BBC learning english,maybe you know it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/ another is CNN,i listen to it online. http://www.cnn.com/video/player/player.html i know other websites,but they are Chinese,so maybe you don't need those.
