Nuclear weapons are a shameful application for a technology which can do good. Nuclear technology used to make energy and radioactive isotopes for medical uses is a good thing. Unfortunately people often reject both. Dismantle all nuclear weapons I say. Build more nuclear reactors.

I think the name we gave to the concept behind the Soviet-U.S. arms race of the last century says it all... M.A.D., or Mutually Assured Destruction. I've never been fond of foreign policy based on excesses of testosterone, and this one was the worst. The minds of an entire generation of Americans were warped by the "duck-and-cover" drills run in the public schools of the 1950's and 60's... as if running into the hallway and crouching against the wall offered any protection from a nuclear attack! Of course, the book-smart idiots who invented these weapons couldn't pull their heads out of their butts long enough to stop and think through all the ramifications of their act. They were so damn smart, how come it never occured to them that these weapons could fall into the hands of rogue nations or terrorist groups, who wouldn't care if they were destroyed, as long as their targets are, too? The whole concept of any weapon that can destroy the whole planet should be banned, and anyone who won't give theirs up should be hunted down and annihilated without mercy or exception, by everyone else on the planet. We need to stop thinking with our collective male organs and bend our minds to saving the world, since everybody already knows how to destroy it in a variety of ways!
