myLotters Just a Reminder!

As I have been trying hard to get my unresolved discussions down to a minimum I have noticed that some of you only make a comment to a discussion. I have seen some comments that are worthy of a Best Response but comments cannot get a best response. When I see a good comment I will check to see if the person commenting has also posted a response and if so I will also take their comment(s) into consideration for the "Best Response. So if you feel the discussion is worthy of a comment post a response as well.

I've noticed that too, I think some people don't realize that they should be responding to the discussion too, even if they're commenting on someone else's response, I think in the guidelines it even say that we don't get paid for comments either. I'm not saying that that's the only reason we're here, but if we can get paid, why not go for it, although they do need to be good responses and not just something small like, I know what you mean or I agree. I've noticed a lot of those too. Thanks for the reminder.

You do get a point if you post a comment to someone elses response but only one time per discussion.

I don't get it why comments aren't simply seen as responses as well, would make it far more viable for people to comment more rather than everybody simply giving their view on the opening post and get the discussion to go more in depth more easily.

That is disappointing if they are great comments, it has happened to me too. I have also had some resolved discussions come unresolved this month. I understand some of them, but not all, as even some of the responses are still there, and the " thank you for choosing me" comments.

I have noticed this happening too. On rare occassions I make a comment to a response, but I wouldn't have intended it to be considered in the running for Best Response, as it would only be a brief comment. I agree with you, that some people are possibly mistakenly writing responses, but not in direct response. Which means even if a long & detailed comment, it can not be considered for Best Response.

Exactly. Thanks Jenny!

I try to read through all the responses before I decide on a best response. I don't think I have given a best response to a comment though, as it isn't really a response.

Yeah it is hard to give a best response to someone who just comments. I think some new people don't realize the difference between a comment and a response. I do try to respond to discussions i like then if i see another response i like i will also add to that one. that way i get two post for the price of one discussions. but response is first.

You are so right. This happened to me on a discussion recently. The person who had the best thoughts about the topic and who summed up their thoughts the best, did so under a 'comment' to another person's response. I couldn't give the 'best response' to the person whom I felt really deserved it, as they never did put their thoughts down as a 'response!' Choosing a 'best response' is so hard anyway, and then to be forced to ignore the truly 'best' one is terrible!

I agree I have noticed that also on some of mine. They will comment but not leave a response. Thanks for pointing this out.

I willseldom comment to someones response unless it's my discussion.I usually just respond.I have been so behind and not on mylot very much lately so I just haven't been responding very much..Illness has kept me going slowly but am starting to feel alittle better again. This is a very good discussion.I've found the same thing as you have.

Thanks for the information, I had not thought about this before, but it is a good thing to know. Fortunately I seldom leave comments except as responses in my own discussions.
