1. Reduce carbohydrate intake instead of totally not taking any carbohydrate.
2. Try not to take supper as there's insufficient time to burn the calories before going to bed. Extra calories will turn into fat.
3. After 15~20 minutes eating, blood sugar starts to rise. When the blood sugar rises to a certain level, brain will emit 'stop eating' signal. So the rule of thumb is, eat slowly.
4. Substitute sauce with more healthy choice.
5. Make your dishes look nice and try to have different variety everyday. It will help to keep u discipline in dieting.
6. Try to boil, steam, grill or roast the food instead of stir-fry or deep-fry as it uses less oils or no oils at all.
7. Eat more fibre, such as fruits, vegetables, oats
8. Maintain daily intake between 1200 ~ 1500 calories
9. Stay away from high calories foods such as fast foods, snacks, junk foods, etc.
10. Buy good quality non-stick cookware as it uses less oil to cook. But personaly I dislike non-stick cookware as the result cannot compare to other types especially cast iron & carbon steel.

In fact, I still eat meat but lesser portion of meat.
And I reduce intake of carbo item like rice, noodle, bread.
E.g
Bkfast - 1 cup of tea + 1 bacon
Lunch - 1 Lo-Mai-Kai + 1 milk tea
Dinner - 3 to 4 chicken nuggest + Tea with sugar.
Maybe once in a while have a proper standard meal in 1 meal in a weekend, and only 80% full.
For sure you will slim down.
Side Effect : No Strength. Frustrated.

controlling your food is just one way to slim down. Using this alone does not help much, as you will hit the all dreaded weight plateau very quickly. That is where one will invariable start to doubt one's ability to lose weight.
The effective way is to couple the mentioned diet with some moderated exercise. Things like taking the stairs instead of the lifts, walking after meals with your love ones and maybe some forms of stationary exercises like pilates or yoga at home would be most beneficial.
The key thing here is to increase your metabolic rate at the same time not putting on the weight.
I have tried the above mentioned methods before, and it worked to a certain extent. For those who are just starting out on a reduced carbo diet, one way to replace the missing carbs from your daily diet without feeling hungry is to eat more guava.
Replacing rice with oats also helps.

Yeah I agree with you exercise is in fact important to keep fit. Exercises below are recommended:
- sport games like badminton etc: not so boring n can interact with ppl
- swimming: exercise whole body n keep body tone well
- jogging slowly at least 30mins: burn fat
- weight training/gym: build muscle to increase metabolic rate.
Taking the stairs is okay but not too frequent as it may accelerate the damage to ur knees. Some article suggests that not to walk too after after the meal as the stomach needs more blood to digest the food. yoga & pilates is good exercise though :)
