I am not sure what type of internet connection you have, but if you are on dial-up, it will be very slow. You can try to get either DSL or broadband; another good option if the others are not available in your area is to get satellite internet like Hughes Net - it works anywhere you can get a clear view of the southern sky. It would also be a good idea to run the window's defragment program and the disk clean up utility. These help keep your computer organized and cut down on wasted space on your hard drive. In addition to all the excellent suggestions posted above, one extra tip is get more RAM in your computer. It could be that you don't have enough RAM and the OS is constantly reading and writing to the paging file on the Hard Drive, which is a much slower process than direct access to physical RAM.
