(this is not to hurt anybody's feelings )Why should anyone go to a Church (in my case, a Temple )quite often to seek God's blessings.Do you have to be deeply religious to sustain your faith in God. God is an all-pervading phenomenon. Service to humanity..kindness and compassion to the poor and the suffering ..good deeds ... noble thoughts - all these would make your proximity to God easier. It is the best form of worship one can always dwell upon. And it ultimately pays too !!!

I think religion can be defined in many different ways. There is a difference between being religious and having a relationship with God. There is only one way in which to define Him-LOVE. I agree completely with what you said about kindness and compassion and service. We are to love one another like He loves us-and to serve one another in love and with joy. As for the noble thoughts-I think anything negative or less than noble-and that word can be defined in many different ways-is weighing oneself down. And yes, kindness and compassion do pay off-in love, joy, and most importantly, in peace.

ya i think its not so necessary.. its jus a way of relaxing and building self confidence!! being religious is different for each human being and it varies with religion!! if u value urself and spend time to help others and do good to others.. u need not be deeply religious!! god will bless u!!!

I'm not religious, but my take on it is that it's like any other thing in life. A comparrison would be the way some people get very involved in a particular sport and devote a lot of their time to it, while others may not participate in a formal sport, but still get exercise in other ways.
I don't think everyone who goes to a church or temple regularly necessarily does it because they think it's the only way to be close to God. They may go because they've built up a network of friends there; they may find that the building itself takes them away from the bustle of everyday life, and puts them in a more spiritual frame of mind.
Even as a non-religious person, I have places I like to go that probably put me in the same state of thoughtful relaxation as someone who goes to a Church or Temple. I like walking through gardens or going into buildings with dramatic architecture and high ceilings and taking a few minutes to quietly reflect.
I'm sure there are probably some people who go to their religious institution for show, but I don't think it's the case for any of the religious people I know. It seems like they do it because they enjoy doing so rather than because they feel they must.

I am a Christian but not a very devoted one. I used to attend church services once a week. Lately, I wasn't able to go anymore. Despite it, I still remember to read Bible every night and pray for guidance.
Attending church services regularly isn't the only way where you can have a personal bonding with God. I understand that there are some people who will gladly scream out about their religion. But it isn't supposed to be that way.
Like what you mentioned above, for a long as you remain a true person with a deep compassionate heart, it will always ensure you of an eternal life.

I don't feel that one has to attend church or other religious services in order to have a personal relationship with God. Some people enjoy the support and fellowship of being with others who share the same faith. Some of the churches that I have attended feel like a family. It feels good to worship with your religious family.
Also, the Bible does talk about fellowship with other believers, and I do think it's important, but I don't think it's like God writes you off if you don't show up for services.

For the things you mention you don't even have to be religious at all, the only thing it requires is for you to be a good-hearted and decent person. But I definitely don't get why some religious people think it's needed to show up at church like 10 times a week or so, what does it help?

Hebrews 10:22-25. Says that fellowship is essential to christian growth, stimulating them to charity and holiness. My parents go to church 3 times a week, more if the yare a revivial they go every day they are a revival. I personally don't think you have to be in the house of god to worship him and praise him and pray. I think it can be anywhere a person chooses to praise him at home, office, anywhere. God is all around us. 1 john 3:23-24 matthew 21:21-22.

You are quite right in your way of thinking. You just do not have to step into an abode of worship most often ,since God is omnipresent. He is always by your side.

Yes, I believe god is all around us all, It's us as people who have to open our eyes to him to really see and notice it. When you know god is with you it's like seeing everything with rose colored glasses. Don't ask for a easier life, ask to be a stronger person. Because when we are no longer afraid if when we start living.

religion is only the path and God is the destination.
In atemple or a church or mosque a person is supposed tothink of god alone. So when many people think of God together the place gets sanctified. aperson going there becomes mentally pure. Ther is no other idea than this. But of late all have become venteres of professional excellence in administration and management. All is done in the name of devotees but benefit goes to selected few
Rampant corruption can also be seen.
So if you can find an isolated place where you can calmly think of god , duch a place is better than any temple

I go to church for many reasons. First of all to worship the Lord with other believers. It also encourages me as a Christian. I can connect with other who believe. It's like being part of a big family. People are influenced by their surroundings so I need to surround myself with other believers and His word to lift me up and bring me closer to Him.

Do you mean mylot is God? lol
Ok, I agree with what you say about temples, but they originally were built in order to have a place for a religious society to meet and discuss about religious matters, as simple as we are doing now. This naturality was lost and now preachers usually look like politicians convincing others about their own interests, or at least we never find time to ask them about our religious doubts...
I have heard a Buddhist story abouth this, I don't know if it is right: a buddhist monk entered a Temple and spitted in a Buddha image. Other monks complainded, and he answered "if Buddha is everywhere, it would be the same to spit in another place". Do you know that story? is it deformed by Western vision?

i think i don't have a faith in God,i think intend to be deeply religious is their spirit faith in God,my mom is a Buddhism, when she had a bad health or our family had a thing happen, she would go to temple and Pray God bless our family's safer.and this phenomenon to faith in God is too often in our hometown.

Well, Service to humanity etc is a way to come near to God. I had heard many times my old relatives praying " Please help me to do the right things at the right time". This means that we need the help of god to do nice things and in that sense I believe that there must be a god.

I agree with everyone.
Religion is a personal thing, and what you beleve in is your own business. After all that's what America is based on.
My belefes are simple, if you don't effect anyone or thing in a negitive way your'e OK withe me. Of corse doing things to help and make things better can only earn you extra points in the afterlife, whatever that maybe.
Besides if there really is a God, don't you think he'd want you to enjoy all his creations, not stuck inside a manmade building? If he is love then he wants you to be happy! What makes you happy?

Religion is a way of life, therefore it is something that you do as long as you live, being deeply religious is euivalent to being deeply involved. If you Believe that youn need to be, be it done according to your faith. Faith is the substance othe the things unseen, the evidence of the hoped for.

I think we can meet and convey our thoughts to God by doing good deeds and helping others then rather going to the temple.I think it is useless to go to the temple and having bad thoughts in mind and doing bad things.Every relegion says that God is everywhere but still we go to the temple , as mentioned by you God can be found much more easily by helping the needy then worshiping.God does not want people to only worship him but he wants the people to serve the humanity.

A Deeply Religious Nonbeliever
I am a deeply religious nonbeliever. This is a somewhat new kind of religion. I have never imputed to Nature a purpose or a goal, or anything that could be understood as anthropomorphic. What I see in Nature is a magnificent structure that we can comprehend only very imperfectly, and that must fill a thinking person with a feeling of humility. This is a genuinely religious feeling that has nothing to do with mysticism. The idea of a personal God is quite alien to me and seems even naive.

faith is of personal essence, as do religiosity, and both are personal endeavors that you put on certain weights depending on how much it matters to you. if you personaly think that being religious can add up to your faith then you do it on your own account and not on what other people or priests dictates you. well we can certainly take credit for family traditions, practices and culture from where we get our current practices, and habits, but being grown ups now, we already have internalized these practices into our own person and we take confidence that what we are now doing is the best for us and our aspirations.

People go to church, temple, mosque etc just to be on a commomn platform and pray the almighty.
Do good, think good and act good - thats what all matters. Of course one should have faith on almighty. For that we need not to go anywhere.
Now all that i said good --- who is going to decide what is good and bad. That is what all these religions are doing. setting dos and donts.
If you have complete faith on yourself and feel that what ever you are doing, then thats all .... you are on the right track.

Yes i totally agree wih you taht one does not need to be deeply religious to have faith in god....One needs to continue doing good noble work which helps himself and the surroundings...even if a person does not go toreligious places he can not be treated as anti-religious religious means to do whatever good we can do without looking for the results .....
