Why are some people against gays?

I've been reading through a lot of discussions and I just don't get it. Most of the time it's because of religion, but even then-shouldn't only God judge? Would you teach your children to hate gays? If you think it's sick and wrong, then it doesn't hurt you, right?

I wouldn't teach my children to hate anybody, what is the point? But I am with you here, I sometimes have a hard time understanding it as well, why can't people just respect each other more often or at least keep each other in their value.

I stated this in another discussion about discrimination. A lot of people are afraid of things that are different. I personally am very open minded. I have a few gay friends. Why should it bother me? If I don't like it then i just won't acknowledge it. I understand it may not be righta nd all that, but you can't stop them. Leave up to the higher power, God. I would never teach my daughter anything that is prejudice. I want her to know just becasue someone is different does mean that they are bad.

I agree. They are people just like us. They are no different than us. Heck most of them are better. They seem to have more morals. And you're right, ONLY god can judge them, I say everyone else leave them the heck alone. Good subject.

I do not teach my children "hate" of any kind....that includes homosexual's......while, this is not my personal lifestyle...I do not feel that I have a right to condemn the choices that they make in their live....I am not their judge!
To me it is no different than any other difference that we as humans may have....it is a difference...it does not make a person good or bad.....
I have had some very good friends who were homosexual....there lifestyle was not that different from my own....my friend went to school, kept their home clean, shopped for groceries...in short .....lived their life!! It was humorous for us to see a man we both thought was "good looking".....and we would laugh! He was one of my dearest friends for several years and watched my children grow up...to this day they have fond memories of this friend of mine.

You are very right and I do agree with you. Personally we raise our kids that being gay is not okay but we also raise our kids not to judge them in any way because that is not our place that will be god's choice. He does love all his kids and will be there no matter what you just have to ask him. I don't judge gays or lesbians but I don't raise my kids that way neither.

I don't necessarily agree with their lifestyle and that's because of my religious beliefs, but I don't HATE them. i don't treat them any different than anyone else. I don't see how people can judge them and be so mean towards them. In my eyes we are all children of God and we shouldn't judge anyone, without us being perfect.
I had a lot of gay friends when i was younger, and they were actually my closest friends.
And i don't think that just because YOU think it's sick and wrong you should teach your children to hate them or judge them, that's NOT Christianity.
