I am considering buying a new laptop. I just can't decide on what I want. I am so tired of my windows and desktop. I have heard nothing but good things about Apple and their products. I am just not sure what to do. So I am going to tell you a little about me and what I do online and you guys get to tell me your opinion on what you think would work best.
I don't really have much use for music or video capabilities. I pretty much just surf the web and hang out at Club Pogo. Club Pogo is pretty much the extent of my computer gaming. I am going back to school this fall so I really would like something portable, stylish and super easy to use. So which one to you guys recommend?

A Mac laptop will not have problems with viruses, spyware, etc. as Windows machines do. Mac laptops are not really that much more expensive than Windows models. Of course, Windows machines are made by many more manufacturers, so you have a much larger choice in terms of sizes, models, prices, etc.
Macs are definitely super easy to use.

Oh, Macs have viruses too. They're just less common because less people use Macs. Mac OS also has a tougher shell design than Windows, but that's no replacement for quality security software.
Idlewild? Interesting username. There's a street with that name right in my neighborhood. :)

Viruses are a lot less common on Macs mostly because their architecture is different and the OS doesn't have all the security holes that Windows does. I've been using Macs for more than 10 years and have never had a virus (except for the Windows viruses that come in email attachments, but don't affect my Macs).

Correct. By design, most of the core components in Mac OS are already well guarded. But there's third-party software that does exactly the same thing for Windows. When you learn to implement such measure, you get the best of both worlds. I'm a tech; it's sort of my job to know these things. :) I'm using XP and IE6, yet I assure you that my machine is every bit as tough as yours. And because it's Windows, my machine can do more.
Here's how I score in one of the best rounded security tests I could find: http://www.mylot.com/w/image/1488078.aspx I have an antivirus/antispyware/IPS firewall suite, an invisible registry guard, and an invisible file guard that locks the system directories to ROM. Nothing ever touches my machine except cookies, which I want to have in order to go where I want to go.

Windows, if this is all you do you will probably want to buy a nice laptop of around 800 Eur which can go along for quite some time on which you can use office, browse the net, do some chatting and that kinda stuff.
Taking an apple for that would cost you about 500 Eur or 700$ more whilst it offers nothing extra in your case.
