PDF files take time to open due to loading of all plug-ins at start up. By disabling the plug-ins from loading, the time required for Acrobat Reader to start can be minimized. How can the plug-ins be disabled?

You can use foxit reader instead. A free pdf reader, small and very fast.

I agree. I use one program on my machine to create PDF files (Cute PDF Writer), and one program to read them (Foxit Reader). I see no point in the extra bells and whistles Adobe throws in there, frills and fluff that serve no purpose but to make their product ever so bulky and cumbersome. Foxit Reader is to-the-point, and knows its place in resource consumption.

I would think that to disable some plug-ins from running you go to View and then you will see the list of the plug-ins somewhere... I'm not sure but this is usually the way to go with many software. Here is another tip for you: When you open a PDF document, in order to speed up the process you hold the Shift button down while it's uploading. This will open the document in less time.
