Ripped from the headlines...

As I was scrolling thru my DVR I was looking at what the upcoming shows are about and I noticed Law & Order is doing more "Ripped from the headlines" stories than anything. It's getting to the point where the disclaimer almost seems false. Do the writers not having any original ideas anymore or has Law & Order really outlived it's entertainment value?

And I'm completely on the other end .... the more of these episodes they make, the more I'll watch. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who have no idea of what's going on in the world around them. If a TV show wants to simulate a real life case, at the very least, some people are seeing, played out in front of them, what's going on right in front of us. Completely for it.

I brought this up last week when Law & Order:CI did an episode about the female astronaut with diapers in her trunk. Tonight it is about Anna Nicole Smith. What I also think is not quite right about some of these episodes is that they are aired before issues in real life have been settled. The astronaut lady has not had her day in court yet, has she? Will the episode of L&O sway the jury if they saw it? I think people will see the similarities on these shows and think they are the real story about what really happened, when in fact L&O changes a few things here and there but basically it's the same story. And in the Anna Nicole Smith story case, the same actress who is doing the television movie on ANS is doing the episode of L&O. I think it's taking it a bit too far. But maybe that's just me.
