My fondest memory of my childhood would have to be when I lived in Oklahoma when I was a kid. Dad was the assistant manager for the local Co-op. He worked a lot of hours, and wasn't at home very much. During harvest was the worst. Dad would work 7 days a week, 14 to 16 hours a day. I never got to see him. He was gone in the morning when I got up for school, and didn't get home until after I went to bed. One weekend, after dads continuous abscence, he woke me up early, and said to get dressed for breakfast. We ate, and loaded up into the family station wagon. Off to town we went. Dad took me to his work. He knew that I had been missing him, so he thought I would get a kick outta helping him stuff envelopes with monthly statements. I was only in fourth grade at the time. But being able to spend time with my dad, when I had missed him so very much, was wonderful. I'll never forget it. I told my dad some time ago how much that weekend meant to me, and he said "Me too." My other fondest memories would have to be when my sons were born. They were so tiny and I was scared to death that I would "break" one of them. Today, they have both outgrown me (both height and weight), but they will always be my babies. Hugs!
