buddies,how do you get good relationship with your superiors?

i have been working for almost two years,i found that when i stay with my superiors,i don`t know what i should say with her/him,i always feel nervous and awkwark,in my heart,i respect them very much,when i meet them,first i will send my respects to them politely,but then i don`t know what i should do next.when i saw somebody can make good relationship with their superiors,they talked about many different topics relaxed and freely,at that time,i admire them very much,and also feel myself inferior.when i try to chat with my superiors freely,but the topic is always about the work,and the contents will end quickly.i don`t know why other workmates can chat with the superior freely like friends?don`t they feel nervous and awkward?why i can`t do well like them?what about you?

How about me? The truth is that I am like you though in different ways. As of me, I don't want too much familiarity with my superiors, that's why I have to be selective on what am going to talk. Because for me it is awkward to talk mundane things to my superior during office hours. Well even if its beyond office hours, I my talk mundane things to my superior but I put some limit on it. I guess you don't want to feel or have so much familiarity with your superiors. Anyway I don't like to talk freely to my superiors unless it is about business and related to work. I actually don't like familiarity regarding on my relationship towards my superiors. You have to determine whether it is familiarity you like or keep wondering on how you are going to deal with it.

Jennifer, until I get to know anyone, whether they are superiors ornot, I feel so insecure to talk about anything. I am actually shy around most all people until I get to know them personally and then I can open up a bit. I feel that same nervous and awkward feelings. Maybe someone can give both of us some good advice. I've always heard that they were no different than I was because they put their pants on one leg at a time just like I did. LOL
