i know that asking how much a person's salary is, is not good....i don't know why...but i never ask anyone about their salary anyway...unless thy are so close to me

Yeah, asking the salary is not good as people tend to compare the salary with other, if one finds his salary is higher than another, he will be happy but if he finds his salary is lower, then he will be frustrated. But when one ask another the salary, the other will also ask him the salary. So there is one whose salary must be lower than the other which makes one of them feel not good.
That my understanding why asking salary is not good.

I agree. There seems to be a taboo surrounding someone else's salary. Yet, only by asking your colleague's salary do you know where your self-worth as an employee actually stand. It's a difficult conundrum.
