Do you live where it snows?

I have never lived where it snows. Being from Australia there are not many places where it does snow so alot of us haven't seen snow very often. If you live where it snows what do you think are the best and worst things about it?

I am from the snow belt in upstate new york. it was not uncommon to get more than 6 ft of snow in the winter - one year I recall we got over 12 ft. snow is nice as it blankets the earth in bright clean looking white, it is lovely as it weighs down the boughs of tree lined streets - arching them over the roadway. snow is really fun to play in - to build snow forts and caves - to ski (cross country is really great) in - to snow shoe. snow is a superb insulator against the cold. forming snowmen is a great way to express your creativity. snow can be heavy, which is troublesome and back breaking to shovel away. snow can be slick and dangerous to drive on. huge piles of snow along the roadways and at intersections makes it difficult to see down the street for oncoming traffic. snowy days are really gloomy with grey skies.

snowman - I miss snow very much.
I live in a northern city in China. It is common for me to see snow. In winter, the temperature is below -30 degrees centigrade. It is very cold and with stong wind. When I was a child, my brother and I often make a snowman. It can last for 3 days. Then it will melt. I cry for a long time for the missing snowman. How lovely it is! When I study in a different city. I can't see snow here. I miss it very much. Then I know there are so many people can't see snow in their lives.

Sounds lovely! It is winter here in australia, and it is quite cold where I live. We can see snow far away on the top of teh mountain sometimes, but no snow in our backyards sadly!

Oh, yes. I live in the northern america, so we get snow every winter...sooner or later. And it commonly gets below freezing at several times in the winter. I dunno...as much as I dislike the cold, I love the snow. It's just..beautiful. The icicles which line the gutters, a coating of ice shining off the treee branches...the best part of snowy winter days...are the mornings. When the sun rises and shines on all the ice covered, glistening, shiney surfaces. Everything seems to glow. Of course, those sort of days you run the risk of becoming snowblinded...but still. There's few things more beautiful I think. The worst thing about the winter, would obviously be the cold. Though for me, that's because I can't really generate my own body heat. I run at room temperature, typically..so cold is a problem for me. But I'm usually fine if I wear layers and make sure I can get inside somewhere warm at some point :)
