Tell Me More about Orbital - I like Their Work!

For about five year I've been hitting up my few samples of Orbital with great gusto. Their work keeps me awake if I need to be, freshens up my workouts, and lightens my work burden. My favorites are still: Dr. Who The Saint and The Theme from "Lost in Space". I find that the electronica in these pieces is quite powerful, and lots of fun. Yet I don't know diddly-squat about them! So, can anyone tell me more about the group (as it was or is), about seeing them, hearing them, and what other material you'd recommend?

'Techno' brothers from the south of England, they became very popular during the 'rave' era in the UK. Large gatherings of the great unwashed, in fields across the English and Welsh countryside, all 'dropping E', and speed (or, whizz, as it was also known) and dancing the nights away to electronic techno beats, until the riot police would arrive and break the party up! Hell, I loved it. Probably there best known pieces were 'Chime' and 'Satan'. The latter, contains a sample from the Butthole Surfers track, 'Sweat Loaf' from the 'Locust Abortion Technique' album. Whilst their recorded work did not achieve the recognition it deserved, they were favourites on the live music scene, with superb performances. Their ability to create an atmosphere was amazing, and they were one of the top of the bill acts at the 'Glastonbury Festival'. In the words of Amazon.com, people who purchased thhis artist also bought; 808 State (from Manchester), the KLF (Glasgow), the Shamen (Aberdeen), & Yello (Germany). The band was clearly influenced by the earlier work of such artists as Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, the Art of Noise & Propaganda. Takes me back to my nightclub DJing days. Time to get on Limewire, I suggest. All the best, and keep 'raving'!

Thanks, Adenochrome! I'll check out "Chime" and "Satan" as soon as possible. Dang, I dropped Limewire along while ago...I wasn't Dling enough of what I wanted from them. I also dropped my Bearshare...same problems. Ever since the filters started being used, there's a lot less of what I like. Must..find..new..P2P...!!!
