I can recall in the late 60's and early 70's when I had my first car I could get gas sometimes as cheap as 19 cents a gallon. Tonight I stopped to fill up and the price had jumped drastically since the afternoon. This is getting really ridiculous. Even though the news states that Minnesota has the lowest average prices for gasoline I hate the fact I had to pay $3.19 a gallon tonight. This is the very first time I've paid $3 or more a gallon. There really isn't much one can do other than pay for it some way or another too. But I am thankful as my sister lives in California and she says she pays nearly $4 a gallon right now. I just wanted to rant here was all. Did you understand the title of this discussion at all? Hahaha.

Hi Grandpa Bob. The Gas prices here on the West Coast of Canada right now are crazy! We're paying anywhere between $1.24 and $1.29 a LITRE! Convert that to US Dollars and add it up for a Gallon and we're paying anywhere between $4.24 US and $4.40 US a Gallon.
There is supposed to be a pump protest on the 15th of May this year. My partner and I have vowed to not fill up on the 15th of May, and we're urging our friends to do the same.
BTW, Yes, I totally got your meaning in your title, and I totally echo that sentiment LOL.

I got the email to boycott gas stations on the 15th also here in California. I have instructed my hubby not to buy gas that day.

Hi Granda Bob, it's really expensive isn't it? In England at the moment I'm paying 89p per litre, I don't know how to change that to gallons or dollars but it's a whole lot.
When I got my Ka 4 years ago I could fill it from empty on £25 now it's £31, think it holds about 4 1/2 gallons, luckily I don't go far so it lasts longer, lol.

I have no idea what that is in USD.
But I've read where in Europe some gas is up to $9 USD a gallon.
Grrrr!

I know what you mean, grandpa. You can't even go far with $3 gas nowadays. I feel the gas prices here keep going up. Isn't it better to walk instead of driving our car. I tried to squeeze my schedules meeting with client two times a week. This can save me a lot of unnecessary trips. "sigh"

The gas is getting ridiculos. Here it is like $2.87 a gallon. But there is nothing that we can do about it. Everyone is always talking about picking a certin day & no one buy gas on that day. that wont do any good. The companies know that if you dont buy it now, you will just have to buy it later. So they arent going to care if they dont make any sales on a perticuler day. If prices keep going up, people that make minimum wage arent going to be makeing enough to even pay for there gas.
I still dont get the title.

I paid $1.24 per litre yesterday morning. This morning it was $1.35 per litre.
It's ridiculous. It is becoming unaffordable to run a car, but unless one is on a major bus route, we have no choice.

I knew exactly what you meant. Actually our prices have gone down about 2 cents since Sunday. Big Whoop! We got one gas station who went from 3.09 to 3.19 overnight. I don't understand why people buy there. Then one night...11:30 on the way home from work...I dropped in $10...no choice. I hardly got to E with that.
You know it is funny, a few years ago..I guess maybe 7 or 8, I was driving my son to hockey practice and we paid .99 a gallon for gas...how things have changed.
Remember in the 70's, we had odd and even days and guess was going to go up to .50 a gallon...what would you give for those days...and I had a Honda civic...got near 50 miles to the gallon on the road doing double nickels.

Hi Grandpa Bob, hope all is well.
The gas prices aren't any better here in Canada. It is so frusterating! A lot of my friends had plans for this summer but have said if the hike continues they aren't going anywhere too far.

I knew what it meant!
I hate paying the high prices of gas. I know we pay less than some, but it still hurts.
The last time I was at the pump it was $2.89 and rising. I am almost out of gas now and dread what the prices are up to now. I don't think it is that much higher but as we all know here, pennies add up!

The reality is that it won't ever go down significantly again - as much as I dislike it - the truth is that in the US we have gotten by really cheap compared to other countries for years. It is time to get rid of the gas guzzlers and begin to look at more gas wise vehicles. We also need to improve our public transportation system. Yes, I understood your title...

In Canada where I live we are paying more than 5.00 a gallon. It's ridiculous. I'd like to see everyone, or at least as many as possible go for one month refusing to buy fuel, they'd lower the cost. We've been told by mid summer we can expect to be paying 7 or 8 dollars a gallon. We plan to just go camping this summer. I can't see paying that much for gas it's crazy.

i remember that.i used to have to sit in the hot car in line with mom when that was going on.$3 really, really hurt in the 70's too.
i think she wasted more gas sitting in line than she ended up buying.

I am in California also and my hubby paid 3.69 for the cheap gas. Yuck. Groceries and everything else are going up because of the gas prices. You cannot even buy food and gas.
For those people on fixed income this is horrible. Can you imagine if you only made minimum wage and had to pay rent, food and gas something would have to give. Now in California we are having a heat wave and today it was 94 degrees. I turned the air conditionier on because I have company if it was just me here I would not have. God knows how I am going to pay for next months bill.
Now I have griped I can tell all the Mom's to have a happy mothers day Sunday.

Wow, well I totally agree, I hate it too! Most recently we paid $2.79 a gal to fill up out van. I remember a few years ago (maybe 6?) that it was around christmastime and gas was like 98 cents a gallon! that was sweet!!! it's been higher than that ever since though, but it was nice. Now it costs us clost to $60 to fill our van, it stinks!
