Different countries have different laws regarding abortion. Some countries permit abortion but in various grounds while some allow abortion without restriction as to reason. In the Philippines, abortion is strictly prohibited and is considered a crime. However, a lot of unwanted pregnancies still results to abortion. Thus, many lives are exposed to danger because they go to illegal abortionist who are not licensed or do not have enough knowledge to perform such. Legal or not, abortion is still rampant in the Philippines. Do you believe that abortion should be lagalized?

Its the same here in idnia too. Almost all clinics have signs put up that abortion is illegal and they dont indulge in it. But in really small villages, im sure abortion is still rampant where some people may do it for money.

abortion will always be a dastardly act worthy of punishment. i can not understand why these people will not use protection so no unwanted child will be conceived. at this day and age, there are so many types of ways to stop conception in a woman though they indulge in love making. those who are into it, shall better make use of these products which are being made available to everyone.

Indeed, abortion is one of the worst issues that is often neglected or rejected here in our country. I think, to legalize it is merely next to impossible. You see, our churches here have great participation in our nation's activities and they are the ones who will oppose to that idea. And besides, considering that we are the only Christian nation in Asia, so to have it legalize is a little far fetch. And I don't think there would be an attempt to introduce the said idea to the government.
It is very tough to have this kind of activity existing around. And I think, we can never do something about it.

no, abortion must never be legalized. this will only make the practice rampant and wanton love making will become tolerated all the more. irresponsible love making is the reason for those unwanted pregnancies. it is therefore, a good step if we will instead instill in our populace responsible love making. those who do not want to get pregnant should better use protection. there are many ways available. it is no excuse for anyone about getting any unwanted pregnancy anymore. it is best that we make everyone aware of the many types of population control available today.

That's a good suggestion. Focus more on educating people on how to prevent unwanted pregnancies than legalizing abortion. Thanks for sharing your thoughts..

Philippines has such a strong sense of morality based on Christian beliefs that abortion will always be conceived as something wrong. But regardless of belief, a lot of people still undergo the process. True, the act of aborting a fetus is wrong in itself. But that doesn't mean that we should condemn the people who had done so. There are a lot of valid reasons why women would rather abort the child than raise it, and it would be doing them injustice by condemning them without hearing out their reasons first.
Should abortion be legalized? There are a lot of things to consider. But in the case of the Philippines, abortion is most practical. A highly populated country will surely benefit for a more proactive policy on population. Also, we should note that reports do prove that majority of those who underwent abortion belong to the poorest class. People who see having children more as a burden than a gift.
But on the flipside, abortion goes against our very own Christian upbringing. Our culture also gives so much importance to children. I don't think abortion will be legalized so long as our mindset remain the same.
Personally, I don't approve of abortion without the gravest reason (like the health of the mother is compromised or the child is malformed). I still go for preventive measures and family planning.

Now abortion is rampant in China. No laws restrict abortion.A currently survey said that more and more middle school girls choose abortion.A statistics showed that in March and September(these two months are the first month after the holidays),the hospitals were full of pregnant women, most of them were still teenagers. Moreover, this statistics were not included the pregnant women who went to the illegal hospitals. As a young woman,I think the rampant abortion should be decreased by the law.Meanwhile, girls and young women should keep a cool-mind to herself and abortion.

My understanding, and I could be wrong here; but my understanding was that the government enforces very strict family limitations. Which leads me to believe that many of these teenage girls have little or no choice but to terminate.
Is that not the case?

Today, more and more citizens in big cities refuse to bear a baby becasuse the expense for the baby is much higher than before.Meanwhile, people in the society are under the heavy pressure so some couples want to avoid their child face to the fierce competition in future. That's a reason to explain why some couples don't have child in big cities. The family control policy isn't the essential reason which lead to the decreased population and either the rampant abortion.

It is legal in the democratic societies. Everybody has the right to chose when to hae a child. When you do an abortion before the first 11 weeks it is not a crime. It should be lealized everywhere because when you are not ready for something you can try again. When you do a mistake you have the right for seocnd chanse. That's my oppinion.

I am against the legalization of abortion in the Philippines. If i am to be followed, i won't even allow the legalization of abortion even in other countries. It's not the legalization that is the issue, the real issue is what abortion is all about? Whether it is legal or illegal, abortion is immoral. I believe that abortion is taking away the lives of unborn children. Eventhough they are still in their mother's womb, they already have life and taking away that right to live is irreverent. It is equivalent to killing. I am not in favor with killing, I am in favor of respect and reverence for life!

i think the United States should adopt your abortion law strictly forbidding it. EVERY human life has a purpose. abortion is killing future scitentists, teachers, doctors, etc.. one of these babies who have been aborted could of been the one who finds the cure for cancer, aids, and other uncurable diseases.
SAY NO TO ABORTION!

I think for the reasons you stated here, and others; abortion should always be legal. If you haven't experienced it, it's hard to imagine the desperation of a woman who for whatever reason doesn't want to be pregnant. When abortion is illegal, women don't suddenly become pro-life & welcome unplanned pregnancies. They seek out dangerous, unsafe, unclean, and illegal terminations.
We can debate when life begins. We can argue that at X point it's now a human being or not. And science & medicine may know what develops when- but who's ever going to know when there is a soul, when there is awareness & when life truly begins? But there is no doubt that the woman is alive. There is no debating her worth, her awareness, her soul, her life. If she can not have a child for whatever reason, we don't have the right to force her to.
When abortions are illegal, women die.

Abortion is legal in the UK. But there was a time when it was illegal. It meant many babies were available for adoption. One of my mum's friends and her husband were sadly unable to have children. They adopted a little girl and then a few years later a little boy. I don't believe in abortion. But I would not judge someone that has one. It is their choice. All chidren deserve love and care. It a woman becomes pregnant and this is not wanted it would be nice if she could become a caring parent or adopt her baby to someone else that can give them this. It is horrible to hear lives are bring put at risk but making abortion legal would perhaps give the wrong message.

I would not want it to be legalized. I still want to believe that there are other ways that we can do to keep it from choosing as the last or the only option.
