How do you tell someone (in a nice way) that their cheap perfume is making you sick? Please I don't know how to tell this one person that is close to me. Help!!!

Hi, I am a perfume addict I own over 40 different perfumes only 1 cheap brand (it was a gift). Cheap perfume or too much perfumne makes me ill. I absolutely hate when someone over do the perfume or wears cheap fragrance. I have told a person that someone was complaining because they are allergic. I worked in an office and there was a female who wore a strong cheap smelling fragrance, people started complaining. I pulled her to the side and said to her I really like your fragrance its a very flirty scent, however I just got a complaint that someone is allergic to something in your fragrance. That was the hardest thing for me to do being a fragrance lover and fragrance wearing person, she said ok and asked me what I was wearing I told her and she started wearing my favorite scent Juicy Couture.

I try not to wear any heavy perfumes if I am around people in an enclosed place like the workplace. It is very difficult to say to a colleague that their perfume is cheap and nasty, all I can suggest is that perhaps you could put a small and discreet air freshener on your desk, she might wonder why and ask you. Then you could possibly let her know, tactfully, that you do not like the scent in the air.

Tell the person you are allergic to her perfume. Purchase her some perfume that doesn't make you sick when you have the money and give it to her on a special occasion such as her birthday, mothers day, or make up an excuse such as friendship day!

l am in that situation right now. l have this subordinate in the office who wears horrible smelling perfume, it may be expensive, but its smells so harsh. lt got a point that l called him when he came to my office, l asked him the name of the perf, he told me, l told him that he could get better smelling ones in the office, that it smells so harsh. He smiled over it, and still wears it. l dont know what to say again, l leave it to him, maybe one day his girl friend will notice it and complain, lol

I dont think its even cheap perfume thats terrible... its just when people like douce themselves in perfume and its so strong it makes you want to throw up. Some cheaper perfumes smell fine, and some are cheap because they dont smell at all... so its all in what you use and how much you use of it.

The reason it smells, is that the person is putting way too much on. If you know them well, you might want to say it gentle and tactful. If you don't, maybe a sweet kind note left on their desk would do the trick.

Actually I do not care if the perfume is cheap or expensive, that is not the point. For me it is annoying and I can also get astma from it, therefor if someone would do this at work I would tell them to take a bit less the next time and if they didnt i would go higher up. People should not get sick, so that other people can takea bath in strong perfumes =)

YES! i have a real problem with cheap fragrances. They tend to make me ill and make me unableto breathe. i only have about 30% lung function, so cheap perfumes really agrivate my lung problems. If someone's perfume is really offensive, you just have to tell them. Say something like "i'm sorry, i don't mean to be rude, but the fragrance you are wearing is really making me ill. Please don't wear it around me."

I agree with some of the other posts, even some expensive perfume smells terrible. i hate to stand next to someone who seems to have taken a bath in perfume.. it gives me the worst headache. Almost makes you wonder just what other smell they are really trying to cover up:)

you dont have to tell her that her cheap perfume smells awful. rather you can tell her, "you know what, the perfume that your using doesn't match with your persperation, try (suggest what type of perfume)". coz what i know, no matter what type of perfume you use, whether it's cheap or expensive, the scent will be diffrent once you use it due to the combination of the acid that we had in our body, from our persperation. can't explain it good, but i hope you got my point.

It doesn't even have to be cheap perfume, some even of the more expensive perfumes smell horrible if you ask me. But it is of course pretty much different for everybody what is nice and what not. I guess you could just talk to her about it, or give subtle hints like giving a better smelling perfume for her birthday or any other possible day of giving a gift.

Yes. You can smell cheap perfume from miles away and the people who put it on think they smell really good. It is so strong and sweet, it makes me sick and dizzy. I try not to breathe alot through my nose when I smell stuff like that. I would just make up a little story if I had to and tell them that you think you may be allergic to their perfume they are wearing or something like that.

I don't know if its cheap or expensive, but some perfumes have very strong and spicy smell. It makes me uncomfortable staying near people with such perfumes.I develop a bit of nagging headache. This is because I have asthama and am allergic to strong smells.
