MapQuest Directions

I have used MapQuest a few times and have managed to end up lost every time. The directions I had gotten were horrible! I find this really irritating when you are in a state you have never been to and don't know which direction things are generally in. Does anyone know where they get their directions from? What have your experiences been using the service? Do you actually get where you want to go?

I have never used mapquest to travel out of state, but in California only, I have had good luck. Once in awhile it takes me out of my way. I think it probably needs to be updated constantly. I have to say all in all I am very happy with mapquest for driving directions to go on trips here in California. I'm not a map reader and I'm so thankful for Mapquest as I can get mixed up so easily. For the most part it has taken me exactly where I want to go.
