Today I read an article in here that talked about Credit Cards being used online....... and people still shying away using them online coz of the credit card theft that we come across quite often.
And, that reminded me that I have not changed the PIN number of my Debit Card (ATM Card)for quite a long time.
Wow....... at times, Mylot is like a wake-up alarm for us..... Thanks Mylot.......:)
When was the last time you changed the PIN Number........ or the security no. of your Credit Card / Debit Card....... Do you think its important. Can this keep you safe from Credit Card thefts...... atleast in some way if not guarding you fully ??????

For all my online shopping I only use the "Discover Credit Card" It generates a new cedit card number for each item you buy online and this number can only be used one time. This number is linked to you real/actual credit card number and the supplier of your purchased item never sees this number. For all other store puchases etc. your card is used in the same manner as Visa or any other major credit card. This is, to me, the best credit card I have ever had.

I have never changed my debit card number and dont think i will unless there is a instance of fraud against my account which is unlikely since i take every precaution when using my debit card to buy things. I dont use my debit card to buy stuff from a shop im in because its easier and safer just to use cash. However, i have made some expensive purchases online recently and i make sure the website is offering good encryption of information so my data is safe, also not site requires you to input your pin number and if it asks you for your pin number then stop using it immediately and warn others.

Good question kukkad. No I don't change it at all! This is silly I realize this now. If I was a victim of credit card theft then I'm sure I would have gotten into the habit of changing my pin frequently.
Yes I think that changing our pin numbers and security numbers is very important. I got a wake-up alarm with your discussion kukkad and I am going to start protecting my pins from now on.
It can not keep us 100% safe from credit card thefts but I'm sure it will reduce the chance tremendously.

I have never changed my pin number, I have been purchasing online for years. I always do my purchases as credit, so the pin number isnt even that important to someone getting my information. i had actually read that your credit card number can be easily stolen from shopping at a traditional store where they store the information on all purchases.

Well I have not changed my pin number for quite some time but I am careful in giving my card for use in hotels or inlets whose genuineness is doubtful. But I think one should keep changing for security purposes specially after the use of credit cards for payments.

wow. i dont have a credit card, but i have heard about a lot of credit card fraud happening online. I do not EVER change my pin for my debit card. If you always have your card on you, and if you were to loose it you call the bank, what's the purpose of changing your pin all the time? I've had the same pin on different bank cards for over 10 years lol. but someone would have to steal my bank card from my wallet first would they not? and then they'd have to guess my PIN.. I dunno.. I think i'll just keep teh same one dood.

Yep, you can do it right at the machine, so I do it about once a month or so. It's a habit I got into years ago and even though I've never lost or had it stolen it seems like a nice safety precaution to make.

I have never changed a pin number, since it doesn't make the slightest difference in on line purchases. If you physically lose the card than that would be different, but purchases online don't even use pin number protection and I think they should.

It's important to change our PIN number of credit card or ATM card often. However, I don't practise that because I'm a forgetful person. I'm afraid if I change it often, I wouldn't remember what my latest PIN number is. Therefore, I still use the same PIN number as given by bank.
