Why are men such babies when it come to pain or illness?

My boyfriend was complaining of a pain in his ribs last night, I told him he must have done something at the gym. So he just lay on the couch moaning about being in pain...didn't bother to actually take any painkillers though until I told him to. So this morning I ask him if he's going to work, and he says no like he's dying. Ask him if he's going to the doctor, and he says no. Surely if he is that much pain he'd do something about? But no he'd rather lie around feeling sorry for himself lol Why is every little thing with men such a big deal? Does your partner cry so much when he's sick? lol

Hi juicemilk when I saw this discussion I started to laugh.LOL Because my hubby is the same way. They love to complaine. I use to feel sorry for him but now I tell him to stop it and get over it.LOL Your so right if they are not going to do anything about it Im not going to feel bad for him. I think half the time they are faking it.heheheheh Well good luck with yours. Mine will probably come home tonight and be complaining because he didnt sleep good last night.LOL Take care

haha I think the same thing sometimes, my b/f is doing an apprenticeship at the moment, so one day a week he has to go to school, and he always seems to be sick on that day...

Totally agree, men are such babies. But I think they do this because they just want attention and someone caring for them. When my boyfriend was sick a few years back, he acted like such a baby, he wanted me to wait on him hand and foot. Well, I got tired of it and told him off. Now, he never acts like a baby...Only a toddler occasionally. LOL.

Maybe he just likes you caring for him, and maybe this is why the woman was chosen as the one to have the babies but then I can't really talk as I am a big sook when it comes to pain also but I think he just likes your wonderful gentle caring..:)

haha well he's not going to get it unless he goes to the doctor :P I just get annoyed because I have chronic daily headaches so usually am in pain most days, but then as soon as anythings wrong with him it's like the world is ending!

oh yes, yes, yes. My boyfriend makes one little sneeze sound like the flu. Y don't men go to the doctor when they are sick for the most part? Well, becuase they are not such smart creatures. lol. That's why the lifespan of a man is not as long as a woman's.

haha your boyfriend sounds like my husband most times when he is sick or in pain. It's like I have two kids at times LOL. He doesn't like going to the doctors and will take medicine if its there, but if its not, then he will suffer throughout and we do too. I don't know what it is but when they do get sick they are just like babies LOL

Men have a lower pain threshold that's why they complain so much.

haha its funny how some guys try to act so macho but then complain about every little pain. but i think women are the same way with a lot of things. of course, we go through menstruation whch can be hell and painful, but sometimes we don't have a threshold for other sorts of pain. i was watching "the real world" yesterday, and this girl was sobbing and screaming and saying she thought she was gonna die. granted, she had mono, but still...you would think she just got shot in the head by the way she was acting!

This is hilarious cause my husband does the same thing. It absolutley drives me crazy and I dread when she gets sick cause he is worse then the children. Something as simple as a cold will have him laying around complaining and moaning for days..lol Women are not like this. We are sick or have a cold or sometimes even injured and about 99% of the time...we get up and continue with our lives and our children. Good luck getting a man to watch the children while he is sick, mines to busy laying in bed whinning..lol

What a heartless woman you are juicemilk. Your poor partner is nearly dying from painful ribs and you can find no sympathy in your heart for him in his time of suffering. You should understand that sometimes we just need that loving touch only our woman can give to us. Of course the additional bit of sympathy and understanding go a long way to helping us live with the enormous pain that we are under at these times. Did you give him something nice for breakfast, a hot cuppa and leave everything he might need during the day nice and handy for him. You didn't? You are a heartless woman but I will give you a positive for this discussion anyway. Oh, you sound just like my partner too. No sympathy at all, when I often desperately need it.

Men really can be such whimps can't they? Luckily my partner isn't too bad, inf act he cut his finger with a stanley knife the other day and i was much more concerned about it than he was, mainly beucase it was bleeding quite a bit. I think women are just expected to get on with things. If only men could feel period pain or what it's like to give birth...

man can cry - man can cry and he show his sick to you as he love you
Men sometimes really like a baby, you don't worry about it too much . he want to paly the child sometimes and get your attention and care . At this this, you can like a mother to comforte him and try to let him feel good . He love you, so he show his sick to you . and want to get more love from you. My boy friend also cry to me when he tell me something making him sad in the past, then you might have a better relationship than before. good luck with you.

Yes my husband is the same way. I had the flu once and I still had to get up put on my mask and take care of our daughter, because just because I'm sick doesn't mean my duty stops as a mom. He got the flu laid on the sofa and you would have thought he was dying the way he moaned and groaned the whole time. I had to make him take something for it and not to mention I work at the hospital for a living . I listen to whiny patients all weekend long I don't want to come home and listen to the same thing. lol. When you work in that prefession sometimes you tend to not have sympathy for your family members when you see the same thing at work too. I mean I've seen women have back surgery or surgery on a clasped lung and they get up like nothings happened , but when you reach the men they moan and groan and then they have the nerve to want to pull on you when they have to get up out of the bed. I think its crazy how they act sometimes :)
