I have always been an Addams fan. I do like the Munsters, especially Herman. But I think Morticia was better than Lillian, Uncle fester was better than Grandpa, and the duo of Wednesday and Pugsley far outweighed eddie.
What do you think, Addams or Munster?

I think the big difference between the two families is one of class. The Munsters were a middle class family where the Dad works and the Mom stays home. But the Addams Family is so well off that they even have a butler, plus whatever Thing is. I guess he gets paid.
To put it in TV terms, the Addams are a Miss Marple mystery, with butlers and inherited wealth. The Munsters are Leave It To Beaver.

So, to continue, we watch The Addams Family for a glimpse of the life that we find interesting but is foreign to us. But the Munsters are the kind of people you could imagine living next door to, maybe chatting with at the mailbox.
They each have their own charm. I loved Lilly's hair and clothes, but Morticia always dressed the same. I remember that in my youth I secretly found Gomez quite dashing.

I love both of the shows. I love the Munsters. I can't agree with you about the cast though. I really like Lily and Grandpa and they're perfect in their parts. Eddie was ok and Marilyn, well she always was the odd duck of the lot! lol. But then I love the Addams family too. The cast were all perfect for their roles too. I think I have to look at both shows separately. I love both shows, I think both casts were perfect for the roles that they played in their own shows. I'm going separate but equal here, firmly straddling the fence, that's me!

I must say, I was never fond of lily. marilyn, I didn't like at all. Eddie was OK. But Fester so outweighed Grandpa. LOL.
Both shows were good, but my preference is for the addams. We must, therefore, agree to disagree on this controversial topic. LOL
Take care

Now I had to stop and think on this one. I think my favorite though is The Addams family. Mostly because of Thing and Cousin Itt. I always did like them. I also liked Lurch. Oddly enough Ted Cassidy who played Lurch also played Thing. I liked all the characters in there but I think it was also their attitudes and weird things that drew me in. They did things that were a bit off beat, weird and I liked it.

Both of these shows are classics and I truly believe that our children would be better off these days if they had these types of shows to watch. I enjoy watching both of these families and as many here have stated, each of them had their own things that made them special to us.
I give both of these shows a thumbs up!!

I liked both equally. My favorite characters from these shows were Lilly Munster and Morticia Addams. Cousin Itt and Thing were pretty fun too. I should buy the DVDs to both shows if I ever seen them at Wal-Mart.
