What is the STRANGEST superstition you have heard of?

I have a friend who thinks that everytime she drives past a cemetary she has to hold her breath or the 'evil spirits' will get in! I think it is the silliest thing I have ever heard but she says the family have done it since she was a little girl and it is so ingrained in her that she just does it automatically. Anyone else out there believe in silly superstitions or know someone who does?

my grandmother used to believe dragonflies "will stitch your eyes shut".she also called them sewing needles instead.
i have no idea where she got that belief from.

That is VERY weird! I have never heard of that before! Dragonflies are so beautiful, it's strange that someone would think they could do that! Thanks for your answer it's the best so far.

I used to own a black cat and i don't think he was unlucky at all! He was lovely!

There are a few that millions of people in America believe in which are just ridiculous. If you cross your eyes they will get stuck is probably the silliest one that I know of, and so many people believe that too.
