I am looking for a slim form camera as a gift to a loved one.
There are so many of them in the market today.
From the sony to to olympus to casio slimFX to the Nikkon coolpix to the cannon ixus series... even non-camera brands like Benq, Panasonic, Kodak, Fujisu and Pentax are comming out with digital cameras.
What I am looking for:
Preferably SD card compatible
5 Mega-Pixel
3xoptical zoom
What would recommend?

a friend just bought the Canon ixus 850. It's 7plus megapixel i think. Not sure how many times optical zoom it has. Should be at least three.
Think it's great too, would recommend! Clear pictures emerge even when taken from moving coach. The other popular one is Canon Ixus 70. Slimmer and probably more popular with females.

I really recomend you a Casio EX Z60 Exlim. I got one last month and the quality of the pictures a really good. It is 5.0 Megapixels, 3x optical zoom and als extra slim, you can carry everywhere you go. The camera has a best shot function that really helps you a lot to take the best picture for many different situations. Oh I almost forgot to tell you that accept a SD Card also. I hope that I could helped you.

Thanks for the response!
Oh... the casio Exlim series is nice!
I did consider that as one of my choice.
But after comparing price and features, I still like the canon series of slim cameras better!
Thanks for the recommend though. It is a good choice of camera.

Cyber shot is nice.. I like the form, and the LCD is big!
but it is slightly over my price range... hmm... I wonder if there will be any discounts for the Sony this coming mid-year sale.
But the big thing i do not like about the Sony range is the memory card. Even with a bundled 1GB, when I am traveling, it is definitely not enough! And there is no way to use my existing PDA to transfer the pictures in the memory card to the secondary storage device so that more pictures can be taken. Buying a spare is also very expensive!
So I am considering it, apart from the price, the memory card is really what is holding me back from getting one.

I personally like the Canon compact cameras though they're not that slim. My recommendations for slim ones would be Sony and Panasonic. Since you prefer SD cards, then your choice narrows down to Panansonic. Have a look at their models. They're really good and the optical image stabilizer is a lot better than the 'High ISO' and 'anti-blur' marketing phrase-catchers. You might also want to consider Sony as their compact cameras are pretty good and if you get the bundled offer, they usually throw in a 1GB card - suffice for your needs.
