Has anyone here adopted older siblings? What was you experience?

My aunt and Uncle adopted 3 sisters, about age 7 to 12. It was a lot harder then they thought it would be. The three girls came from a very bad background, the mother had abandoned them and the older half sister was caring for them when they were adopted. The oldest daughter never sees them, the other two have come around and all are now grown up. It was a difficult time.
