Sudoku, an addicting game indeed

Where did sudoku originate? My idea is that it originated in Japan, well it's because of the name i guess. I find playing sudoku interesting and challenging as well. There isn't a single boring moment! One of my teachers back in high school was so addicted that he bought three books i think all containing sudoku puzzles.
