What a night for Big Ben...so Ben wasn't born on the island..was he actually seeing his Mom in the woods? or was it a child's imagination?
What happened to his lil' girlfriend? did she get gassed w/ the Dharma people too?
What is the connection of Ben's Mom "dying" at his birth and the Pregnant woman's experiment being run on the island?
How & when did Ben get the gun from Locke?

I wonder if it's Ben that is making the women all die in childbirth not that his is poisioning them or anything like that, but that it's his connection to the Island that is causing it to happen....like it could be a subconcious fear that the island picks up on and bring to life? Like the Polar Bear?
Given what happened to his mom, and the guilt that his father instilled in him, this would seem to the be the core of all Ben's "issues" and we already know the island seems to have a way of making thing happen. It just seems like too much of a coincidence for there not to be some sort of connection. I would be interested to know when the child birth issues started? Was it before or after Ben come to the island as a child.

Man I'm not reading anything you have to say.
I had you pegged for one of those SPOILER
readers and your last discussion post proved
it.

Well, it's a recurring theme in the show that the people on the island are trying to redeem themselves and that their past problems seem to manifest in reality.
I think you make an excellent point Twilight. I think Ben is the cause of the pregnant women dying. It doesn't make sense that sperm counts in men on the island would quadruple, yet the child & mother die at birth. Ben has some influence on the pregnant women on the island.
Notice how Ben used Locke to heal his spine so he could walk again. Ben attributed his ability to walk because Locke was near him. What if the same force that allowed Ben to heal when Locked was close by, is causing the pregnant women to die because Ben is close by?

Ok, so they die in the third trimester. Remember, Ben was born prematurely at 7 months....so actually that collaborates my theory even more.
I don't think Ben is there to cure anyone. He is an evil person, and his evil is manifesting itself into the pregnant women who die.
It's possible that Locke could have saved Boone, but Boone told Jack not to amputate his legs. I think it depends on the severity of the injury involved. If the injury is terminal than Locke can't help, but Locke can help heal injuries that aren't life threatening.

I dont think Russo was Annie, Russo said she came here on a ship, and she has a French accent. Man, Bens father was a nutball, no wonder Ben is so screwed up lol. Pretty sure that the cause of the island (preggers ladies) drives him to find that cure, but where do they get all their funding?? Richard (the guy who found Young Ben in the jungle) went back to Miami to recruit Juliet didnt he?? So confusing!

Whoa, you proved my point even further.
I was trying to place the name Angie
somehow with Danielle but if her name
was Annie, that makes perfect sense.
It doesn't matter what she said about
a ship. I'm sure she did but what she
told could be a half truth. The accent
doesn't matter. Patchy, (one eye guy)
has one too.
You're right, I knew I saw Richard before!
He was on the mainland. My guess is that
the funding is coming from the company that
hired Juliet. It is so confusing.

ok...jumpinjack - can you connect Danielle & Annie please - how is that now making sense?
What gives Ben the right to experiment on these innocent pregnant women? Just b/c you crashed or unintentionally arrive at this island doesn't mean you're open to experiments. I wonder who was the first pregnant women to lose a baby? and instead of trying to keep pregnant women on the island - get them on that submarine (that's no longer thanks to Locke) and get as far away as possible. Save the experimentation on the polar bears or the white bunnies.

I thought he said, "Annie", not Angie. Wasn't Annie the person that was killed when the hostiles attacked the boat Sun and Jin and Siad were on andwas it Sun that shot the Other woman? I may have this totally mixed up, but I thought that was Annie. I thought maybe Ben had gotten her out before the gassing, or she had already converted, and even though she was married to one of the Others, she was the girl from Ben's childhood.
I don't think he was seeing his mom, but I think he was seeing something the island wanted him to see. The same way Eko saw his nrother when it was only the Monster. The island wanted young Ben, and appearing as his mother was they way t ge his undivided attention.
