Is it possible for us to have a world without nuclear weapon?

We hate war, we love peace.Atomic weapons bring great horrors to us. on the one hand we are afraid that more countries will pessess them; on the other hand we are worried these MDW will be in the hand of terrorists.
We all know nuclear weapon is fatal and disastrous for human being. We hope we live in a world without nuclear weapons.If you had a chance to write a letter to the general secretary of United Nations on this issue, what would you say to him?

Hello,shenzhouplaze,I think it is really hard to have a world free of nuclear weapons now,in fact,every country is not trying to develop stronger nuclear weapons,it is like catching up with each other,when one country develop something new,other country will follow or even try to do something more than it,it will be a never ending competition.
If i were to tell the secretary of the united nations,i could only tell him the world will end if the nuclear competition continue and if some countries try to start a nuclear war.
