Four jails in Brazil are using geese to help prevent prisoners from escaping. The prisons, in Sao Paulo's Paraiba Valley, say no inmates have escaped since they brought in the geese. The geese are kept in areas just inside the prison wall and make a lot of noise whenever anyone goes near them. Idalecio Pereira Campos, director of Tremembe Prison, told Terra Noticias Populares:"When I was child there were wild geese that would run after me on a nearby farm. That is where I got the idea from I thought that the geese would do great in the prison, and they do!"

What a great idea. I don't like to go too near geese. They are quite big and frightening. I hope they don't decide to allow a prisoner to look after them though or he might train them to attach the guards instead and then everybody could run away.

actually thats a fantastic and simple idea! lol
when i was a kid we used to have geese too. and they do make quite a bit of noise when you get too close...not to mention can be very agressive. the hiss they make is so loud, it really scares you..its just not a sound you would expect to hear from a bird.
billygoats also make good "guard dogs"!! lol my rear end can attest to that!

thank you for your response! "geese guard" looks like very funny but very interesting! I also heard that a kind of mouse can search some disease by smelling the examples.
