Most time,i always think whether the degree is as important to career as we have expected?
we were struggling for the degree of bachlor, then the degree of Master and even the degree of doctor. But we tend to ignore the work experience which can offer us the first-hand material,we take efforts and time to study and study.HOwever we do not know how much of them is aimed at the future career.I know most of you maybe engaged in a detail work, you must have many opinions about the problem.what kind of degree do you think is enough for us to work?which is your highest dream degree if you can pursue?do you want to study abord?or do you plan ti study further in MBA after several years'work?
Take pros and cons into consideration,i'd like to hear your own special ideas about it.

hi, I am currently doing my doctorat abroad and I think it is worth the time, the money and the effort. I do not have work experience, but this is not a big problem, because with a PhD degree you can do many things and when you go for an interview they do not care about your work experience. they ask questions such as: what is your field of interest etc. and they ask you to solve problems in order to see what proccess are you going to use. Firms want us to make a job that a graduate or someone with only a master cannot do. because they cannot do research which is one of the most important thing for a company.
So, the question is what do you want to do in your life. For example I am an economist and when I finished my graduate studies I asked myself: What do you want to do? Do you want to spent your life working in a bank? No... then do a master. After that I asked: do you want to be an executive and work day and night? No, I want to do research, to investigade new things. Ok, then do a PhD...
Simple process, but have in mind this is very difficult...

Where I come from, degrees are more or less a must-have. There are definitely some few people who have excelled to a reasonable height without degrees and there are some others who have degrees that they eventually end up not using, but overall, the best thing is to have them because you will have better chances.

lets be practical..having a degree is very important..because that is your key in finding a job..we all know that the basic standards of every company is that you need to have a degree..but also there are some successful people who havent finish their studies but who are successful now..i guess, having a degree is just a help for us to be in a better world..plus the fact that you are a hardworking and resourceful..i know that you'll be a successful person..

I used to believe that work experience is more important than getting a degree but I was wrong after working for few years. Many professionals around me are degree holders and it seems that degree is the basis qualification if you ever wanted to 'climb' the corporate ladder.

well i dont really believe that degree is the only key in having a high paying job or a career..its more on ur skills or experience..most times people thought if they graduate in college and thats the key in having a good life but reality there are lots of fresh graduates who are jobless but it depends on what country u like to start ur career,,as for me as long i have 2 hands to work and feet to walk, skills and experience i had in my previous job ill have a good life..:)..

no offense, but i think degrees do matter in our world. to get a pretty good job, you need to have a pretty good degree. the higher the degree, the higher you'll move up the ladder. of course, this is just general, and there are exceptions, but i think that's how it is for most of our societies. it might not necessarily be fair, but that's how it is. i hate studying and i hate going to school, but i know that i need it if i want to be competitive in this world. that's not saying that im smarter than anyone else because i have a master's degree (or will have it in december). a degree doesn't necessarily correspond with intelligence level, but society has made it seem that way.
im currently pursuing my master's degree, as i already mentioned, and will be done in december of this year. i really want to stop afer that, because i just dont think i can do any more schooling. im just sick of it, but im struggling to push through until december. my mom really wants me to do a PhD, but i really dont want to. maybe in a few years ill want to go back to school to do a PhD, but i highly doubt it. that's one of the reasons why i decided to do my master's directly after college. i didnt think i'd go back if i took a few years off, but maybe that's just me. and i am studying abroad currently as well in the netherlands.

im not over convinced that a de3gree helps you in your career, life experience is much more important. However, because of closure, many occupations now haqve a graduate only policy. In many ways this is simply a way to limit the number of applications for the posts.
blessed be

As of me a degree in any specification is much essential to progress in our career. But i dont think its very hard to pursue a degree. It depends upon the financial situation of a person.He/she can obtain it through college or correspondence.I have personally seen many people working in part time and completing a three year degree through correspondence and do well in their career.
We can study while working as the potential is quite abundance nowadays.I did my under graduation in college and got a placement immediately and i completed my master in commerce while working as full time employee which is a added credit to my job and helped me get a higher grade in my job.

Degree is important and ability is more important and the most important one is the attitude.Attitude is everything. The positive attitude+superior ability+a high degree=success.Another necessary one is luck.Luck is important to some one especially when he or she makes a decision.

yes, a lot but it is not all! Instruction is a very good thing but sometimes you need also to be a little lucky and have capacity.

I think both experience and a degree ARE important. But depending on the field you are going for. I have a BA in communications, never did an internship and had a crappy time in the past trying to get a job in my area I have a degree in. However, I am trying for an internship now with a junior college hoping for the experience I need to keep going in my career :)

Having a long working experience is i think very important in finding a suitable job for you but you must have a degree first before you could gain that working experience. And studying abroad would really increase your chances of having great job in the future.
