I've ridden in a lot of cabs in the past years. Most of the time they just take you where you want to go, but sometimes, the drivers surprise me by actually starting up a conversation. I've talked about The DaVinci Code and its effect on religion, relationships, family, education and many other things.
It's very refreshing. In my city (Manila), there are so many people that you never really see strangers as individuals. They're just part of the crowd. Sometimes though, you strike gold with strangers in terms of intellectual ideas. We think of cab drivers here as uneducated, but my experience with some of them has led me to believe that there may be more to them than just driving a motor vehicle.
What's the most interesting conversation that you've had with a cab driver?

The cab driver are very glad to have a conversations with you in China. And I love to talk with them, too! Especially when I visiting a new city,I am willing to hear them to talk about the interesting place to see. (Also feel something about their accent.)That's interesting! Among all the driver I've talked with in those city, Beijing drivers are the most talkive.

That's a good thing :) I have a friend who goes to Beijing on trips and he said that the cabs there are a lot better than what we have in Manila too. And yes, cab drivers always know great spots to visit. Thanks for sharing!
