i share your view. i don't think it's compulsory, and i think it'd be kind of nice to be using both your maiden name and your husband's.

I'm not going to. my family name is who I am, and it's an unusual name that I like a lot. seeing as my partner has a one syllable name I might double barrel that on to the end though.
