I guess it's the 'unknow' that scares us. What we can't see, or validate makes us powerless.
I used to sleep with wall lights on, until I decided to overcome this fear, which took me 2 weeks of sleepless nights to achieve.
A person who plans a great deal, is likely to be afraid of the 'unknown' more than a person who doesn't plan. The reason is that a person who plans, speculates outcomes, therefore the 'unknown' sends the sense of paralysing insecurity.

that is a great bit of advice. I guess if you just face your fears you can do it. I mean, what really changes when its dark...nothing. You just can't see it!

I wish I could explain it myself. Maybe something really is hiding in the shadows and we are the smart ones!! Oh great, now I creeped myself out :(

having a pet around is always more comforting for some reason.

at least I am not alone. Do you need a light on to sleep?

interesting. It would be really scary not to be able to see at night. I have this terrible fear of the dark. I sleep with the lights on sometimes.
