Some of you may know that I tend to be a bit of a gourmet dabbler with the food, and I tried a few new cheeses lately. However, the Stilton has never appealed to me, reminding me very strongly of something I forgot to take out of the fridge before I went on a two week vacation.
Alas, Father in Law loves the stuff and it was not a problem when he lived somewhere else and we took it up to him as a gift. He is living here at the moment and I hate the stuff. Pong, pong, pong, eeeeeeewwww!
So, come on you Stilton lovers, tell me please, what IS the attraction of the stuff? I am sure there are some of you who can put the case for Stilton very eloquently, and maybe persuade others than I am not correct in my assertion that this is the stinkiest and ugliest cheese around.

Everyone has different tastes and opinions and you're entitled to yours. I can take or leave stilton. But I have to agree with you, it stinks. The taste is a different thing though. I sometimes enjoy eating it in small quantities because of its rich flavours. At the right time in the right situation its good, if you're not in the mood for it, its bad.

You would enjoy being here at the moment then as it is on the nightly supper menu. I get the supper then I run off to get some fresh air.
I don't mind everyone having different tastes, it is just that we already have four different cheeses on offer but he has to have the smelly one!
I tried offering garlic bread instead, but nope, no joy!

You are not wrong there! He has moved into his own home now but he is still here 18 hours a day so the Stilton has stayed here :-(

Man stilton is so gross I'm heaving just at the thought of the smell. I don't even recall if I ever bothered tasting it, the smell is so bad that I don't think I've ever forced myself to try it! I do like other cheeses like cheddar, boursin and a few others I can't think of right now but the smelly ones can just stay away from me. Rotten socks or what?! LOL

Umm, if you are so on my side, what is that gross picture doing in my eyeline. (yes, still love you lol). It seems everyone who has replied agrees with us entirely. The stuff stinks, and nothing like any form of food we recognise.
I let him have the stuff obviously, as you do not stop people enjoying their food, but sort of hold my breath, serve it up and then dive into the other room for some fresh air!

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey! you may have something there. Not the neighbours, those brats who keep stoning the windows because they are bored, poor little teens. If I thought it would work I put it all over the wall. Will have to experiment witb a fan to see if I can waft the stuff over to them. Blend it with roqfort because apparently that is pretty vile too.

Hi Shelagh, No I did not know that you like gourmet food I like it as well. I have never used these kind of cheeses you have mentioned here in regards to my gourmet cheeses. The cheeses that I personally use do not smell although I have smelt some of those other ones and I agree they sure do smell.

Of course I like gourmet food lol. You don't get as fat as I am without trying most foods in life lol.
Well, now you know about Stilton and the post above tells you about another stinker, so you can avoid the wonderful life experience of smelling these delicacies lol.
