I think we can choose to make something of our lives or we can waste it. I think there is a higher power there to gently guide us along, but we can choose not to listen. We are not forced to go with the plan. I also believe there can be more than one plan for our lives and we choose which plan we want to use.

I've always believed in destiny.
I believe that if something is not meant to happen, it will not happen and if something is meant to happen, no matter what we'll do, it will happen.
Someone then asked me, how do I reconcile that with free will? If everything is already planned, then how does free will works?
Well, I've always believed that we're all destined for something and it's the "getting there" part that we have to do on our own. I mean, we make mistakes and screw up along the way, or take a longer path to get to our destination but in the end, we will all get there.

I guess there is both plus the chance factor.
We are in some control of our lives and we can chose what to do given the options we have. I mean, someone that was born with a gift for math may never be a great actor no matter how hard he/she tries and vice-versa.
People are born with capabilities sometimes exceptional for busiess, arts, sports, family, science but excatly what they will do it's up to them.

Okay, let me give you an example. A aircraft pilot need a 20/20 vision, otherwise he can't get his license.
Let's say you want to be a pilot but you don't have a perfect vision. The result is that you won't be a pilot and I've seen it happening. The Air force is full of examples of people really trying hard even cheating to be what they want.

What made you think that our life has already been mapped even before we are born? I think that statement make us foolish to make decision, to fight for liberty, to think what we want with our life cause if what we're gonna do is already planned for us, then we have nothing to do except to sit around the corner and wait what's for us?
Freewill aside from intelligence makes us differ from animals. We have freedom to decide for ourselves. Although being a gift itself, more often freewill leads us to trouble.
The reason is we only rely to ourserlf. Although we have freewill, it doesn't mean we always know the best for us. We often forgot to consult who knows what's best for us, and that is our Creator. So the best thing is to always seek for guidance before we make decision.
