What do you think about Dale Jr. leaving DEI (Dale Earnhardt Inc.)? It seems that Dale Jr. couldn't reach an agreement with his stepmother who runs D.E.I. Dale Jr. will finish out the rest of the season and then become a free agent.

I think that this will probably be a good move for Jr. As stated by the media, he is 32 y/o now, same age as when his Dad went to RCR. Maybe this is a good time for the young Earnhardt to truly test his driving skills and find a more suitable team with a Crew Chief/owner that will give him the moral support that he has been craving ever since his Father passed on. Sure, had it not been for Theresa and Dale Sr. building the company to what it is now, Jr. would probably not likely have had the opportunity that he has had until now. Unfortunately, Jr. does not share the same relationship with Theresa as his Father did (professionally speaking) and that does happen. Surely, their was friction between Jr. and his stepmom, that shouldn't neccessarily concern the general public and all of his fans, thus, with that said, it is probably in everyone's best interests to just move on and that is what will happen, come 2008 when Jr. becomes a free agent. Every driver at one point in their career or another, needs to branch out and explore other options, for this is what makes that driver become more prolific in the sport. Perhaps the young Earnhardt needed this, in order to grow as a person and to have the chance of building that strong team that his Father had worked so hard to build and other teams require in order to become a Championship winning organization. As it is often said, if one is not happy, then you are not where you should be. It will be interesting to see how things play along as we progress into the 08 season...
