Is Associated Content getting stricter?

I've noticed that in the past few months I've been getting a lot more rejections on AC. I was just wondering if this is happening to anyone else. Is it because I've now hit level four clout, or maybe they're just getting more strict about what they'll pay for? The articles I submit haven't changed in quality or subject matter as far as I can tell...

It seems that they are focusing more on the Page View Bonus than the initial payment for the article. Before the Page View Bonus I was averaging around $8 for each article, and now I'm at about $5 and some change. I'm going to try and see if I can't find a way to get more Page Views so my bonus gets up there, and I think that is what everyone who writes for AC should be focusing on if they want to make money =) Here's my page, I have a ton of articles as you can see =) http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/31502/chloe_xanthis.html

As more people join there will be more submissions and less pay..only logical AC participation is only growing not dwindling I would say..therefore yes they do seem to be tightening down on the ole check book so to speak...which is a challenge to you as a writer to get more creative or figure out a way to get by it...(personally like another topic someone posted on here I have not been seeing too much rejection myself) My theory is that the new incentive program in the future once they have it worked how they want will become the only type of pay and maybe they are weening us off of the old system and on to a new perhaps...

I have to say that if that new incentive system is going to be all they pay, I'm going to stop submitting to them. I've earned a grand total of $3.07 from it so far. Any one of my pieces on it's own earns more than that. If they're planning on only paying for hits, they're going to have to make each hit worth quite a bit more.

I wouldn't write on just the hopes of page views either. And I have nearly 40,000 page views now. But that's only gotten me $20.

They definitely get more for your work than what you get with the incentive system. That's why it works for them. I'm sure they didn't make $50 off that one article they paid me $50 for, but overall, my $4 articles have gotten the most page views and so they've definitely made a lot off those.

I hope they're getting stricter. A lot of the articles there previously have been pretty bad. I heard a lot of people only get $3-5 per article, so I guess I was still getting more for decent articles, but I had always wondered why some of the stuff was even published. Not saying that's yours, I'm just saying it would be a good thing for their site if they got a bit stricter. I've noticed though, on some topics that were previously good topics, now they're offering $5 because they have a bunch of articles on the topic. So that's a bit disappointing. But as far as being strict, I never thought they were all that strict.

Me too. Especially because they always try to claim to be so strict on grammar and spelling there. It drives me nuts when people just pull info out their behind and publish it without knowing a thing too. They probably have less ways of catching that though. There was this one rabbit article about teeth that was absolutely horrible. It basically just said that for every teeth problem, you should go to the pet shop and buy wooden chew sticks. Nevermind that once your rabbit can't even eat anymore, it definitely cannot chew a wooden stick. And nevermind that those sticks generally don't work the molars at all. No mention of the vet doing a molar planing or anything in that article. I wrote a counterarticle, but I always wonder if people actually find those.

How terrifying! In the rabbit rescue biz, I know for sure that I've seen plenty of tooth issues that required extensive medical care. I'm glad to hear you caught that one Pigglies! Do you work with rabbits as well?

I know what you mean about the quality of some of the articles. It drives me nuts when I try to read an article on the site only to find that the author clearly had no grasp of the basics of grammar. I just hope those were published unpaid!

I haven't written anything since the product review offering, so I don't know what's going on over there. However, I do know that I have been receiving notification from those on my friends list, and it seems that some folks (not all) are still publishing a lot. I've slacked off lately, so I can't judge. I'd like to hear what everyone else has to say, however.

I've noticed a huge change in AssociatedContent.com. I started in February and was bringing in a decent income with only one rejection. In March, half were rejected and in April all were rejected. I looked at the community message boards and found other members speculating, but no concrete answers. I'm looking forward to seeing how it changes further because, as we all know, that'll mean more quality content and less of what we were seeing when they first started posting.

Yeah, that's about what I've seen too. Though I haven't made it as far as the "all rejected" stage just yet. I'd say it's about 2/3 rejected though.

It looks like it started again - you've got a whole pile on there with today's date on them! I left you a comment on one.

It frustrates me because I have between 75-100 articles published there and a clout index of five. I thought I was on the roll with the income, the subscribers and the level of acceptances from the editors within six week's time. Then, boom, it stopped. I'm not going to give up on it, though, because I still believe it's a good alternative to fall back on when scouting out other options.
