I just wonder. I hate the sound of telephone ringing. At home or at office. I personally think telephone, while its a very good equipment to keep people in touch, is a instrument which wastes our time. I very rarely answer our home phone and i generally dont give my cell number to people. I wonder whether this is only my strange behaviour or are there any others who think like this?

You are not alone I assure you. Telephones can be both a convenience and an instrument of torture. If the call is from an unknown number I ingore it because I know it is a telemarketer or somebody else who wants to waste my time or take my cash. If my husband and I sit down to eat the phone always seems to ring just as we eat the first mouth full. This really annoys me. I don't pick it up and I tell my husband not to, either. The most annoying thing is when an inconsiderate friend or family member calls you very late at night or very early in the morning. I hate that so much I am mad at the very thought of it.

It really is soothing to know that there are others who share the same feeling Whisp. Anyway, you made me laugh with your "waste my time or take my cash" line. Its so true when think about it. You wont believe, we once got a call from a family member around 11.30 in the night to say that they will be visiting us next day. And next day, we prepared lunch and everything, they didnt come, they didnt call or anything. After a week or so, they called again early in the morning around 6.30 and gave some lame excuse. People are so inconsiderate and selfish. We all come across such people, most of the time.

I can't stand the sound of a phone ringing at home and or work. In fact, at work, i have the option of changing the ringer. That doesn't help too much. I know when I am home at night, and my phone rings, I feel like I could scream. I don't mind my cell phone though, cause i can entertain myself with the different rings.

Hi ,well i am back and lastnight i posted a discussion about long phone calls.I have solved my problem i kave a different ring foe each of my friends and family membersand the normal ring is for all other calls so i know who is calling and can decide if i want to answer. The other greatthing i have is a headset so if i am busy but still want to talk to the caller i plug in my headset and chat while i do my house work or whatever else i maybe doing .It is really great and i seem to just breeze through the house or other work and the different rings are great.

Yes, in a way you are right...I also believe that ringing of telephone can be a nuisance. But you would agree every thing has its plus and minus..If we want to enjoy benefits of telephone...we will have to suffer its drawbacks also. I normally do not like to ring and disturb anyone at odd hours ....until and unless it is very important. But telephone or mobile has become an essential part of our life...and we cannot live without it.

I can't stand to hear a person chewing. If I can hear whatever you are chewing I get so annoyed and grossed out. And people who smack while chewing anything bugs me too. These two things are the top two things that annoy me.

The phone ringing isn't what annoys me - it's the people on the other end of the line that do... I mean, they call me, when I answer they ask 'what are you doing'. I tell I'm doing this or doing that - involved in something. Then they want to talk for an hour about nothing at all important. That annoys me - if you call and I say I'm doing something please just ask me to call you back when it's more convienent for me.
