Well guys, this is the usual thing that we find in our day to day life. As we are walking on the street/road, we find some coins lying on the road. When i used to be a kid, i used to keep looking at the street while walking just to find out whether i find any coins. If i find it, i used to tell my mother about it and she asks me to give that money to beggars because that is not our money. Till today, if i find some money on the road, then i take it and give it to some beggars.
How about you? If you find such money lying on the road, do you take it or just leave it as unseen? If you take it then what do you do with that money?

I always do that most of the time. Yes, it's true. To earn is really a hard thing to do. We need money for our basic needs right? Probably, I do not let the opportunity to get those coins which would be useful in some other way soon. I don't care what would other people say. In fact I'm not doing wrong, I just have to save them for the future. True it's not that much but when you put them together it could possibly be much to share with other people or invest for extra income.

LOL! That is true! If we gather all the coins together, it will surely make a huge amount. But dont you think that the money is someone elses hardened earned money?

I take the money, yes. But usually i give it to other people who needs it more. Like you, giving it to beggars or giving to poor kids that playing on the street. I don't know if I encounter with big bucks of money...LOL. Maybe I'll be not too good in giving it to beggars.

I do because it is supposed to be lucky. I just stick them in my pocket and use them as I would any other coin.
It is my youngest who is really lucky. He is always spotting money and it is often bills, not coins. It's like he has some sort of built in radar.
Or he just walks slower than the rest of us!

Well, it depends on the amount of money. If there's a coin worth less than $0.10 in my county's currency, I don't bother to pick it up. If there's more, I pick it up and use it for my needs.
If I find a wallet with more money, and it has some ID of the owner, I try to find its owner and return the money.

ok, atleast you take the pain of contacting the owner to return back the wallet. I have seen few who dont even bother to take such pains. Anyway thanks for sharing your views :)

Hello, mdchennai, most of the time i will not pick up the coins as they may always be dirty,i had only seen a ten cents coins on the street once,i did not pick it up because it was near the gutter.
The only situation i will pick up the money is when it is not a coin, it is a fifty dollar note.lol.I think i will spend it straight away.

Think of all the coins you have missed. That can easily add up to 50 dollars over the years.

Well friend, even i dont pick up the coins if it is dirty and recently i happened that i dint pick up the coin just because it was dirty. But i feel a lot by doing this because that money will be used by someone else for themselves rather than giving it to charity!

I have never taken money or coins found lying on the road.I'm not lucky to fing it.Yes,if I can find money or coins lying on the road,I will give it to the beggars. They need help. But one of my dormmates said she prefer to saving the money in her pocket, because the money was given by the God.She believed that money or coins found lying on the road is the gift from God.

It is nice to hear that you give the money to beggars. Talking about your friend, she thinks that it is the money given by God, but what i think is that we are comfortable enough to make our living, so we can give that money to someone needy!

Yes that is right. We are capable enough to work and make our living. We should also pray that no one in this world face such situation in their life!

Well, if I find some coins on the street, I'll keep it to me. It's not mine, but it's not the beggars too. Why should I give them, knowing that they'll pay drinks later and might end up dying? I prefer to spend it myself, at least I know I'll make good use of it.
If I take... Well, if they are just coins, I can save it. I can buy bubble gums, or something like that. You know, cheap stuff.

But then you can give it to some beggar whom you thing is really in need to make his living. I dont think that all beggars spend their money for drinking and i really hate such people when i find that they beg just for the case of drinking :(

Yes, I also hate beggars that ask you for money only to drink. But how can you know which one will spend the money drinking and which one won't?

Yes I pick it up then put it inside the coin bank... In time, I give it to the kids singing on christamas eve... I was raised by mother with the thought that the coin you will find lying in the street is as important as 100 peso...You should know to give importance no matter how small the value is... In time... if you put them together you can use t for something...

Honestly, I rarely see coins/money on the road - maybe the people in my place are extra careful of their money because of the great snatcher population here in Gen San. LOL
But if in the event that I see any coin/money on the road, my decision would greatly depend on the situation that I am under. If I see a coin, I might take it for myself or I might give it to a beggar (but there are few beggars around major streets of GenSan). If I see something of great value, I really wouldnt know what to do. Reporting the event would be much of a hassle but making the money stay in my hands would be bothersome. Maybe this discussion would be perfect for me to gather some advise - that might happen to me in the near future.

My suggestion is that, you can take the money that you find lying on the road and give it for charity. If that money is of small amount, then you can give to one beggar, but if that money is of big amount then you can share the money to a couple of beggars. The main thing in this is that you give money to the one who are really in need of it and will use the money in proper way. I dont say you to go in searh of them, but you can take the money along with you and if you find someone on the way who really needs it, then you can hand it over to them.
Anyway friend, this is my suggestion. May be you may have a better one for yourself :)

Hello Ismail
Well yes I have seen many times notes/ coins on the road .. if it is a big amount .. then I take it .. but if it's a small amount then who cares .. but after growing old I don't take the money from the road .. even I don't see any note or coin lolzz.. may be when I was a child I had a habit to look down .. now I always look upwards :)

Yes you are right! As we grow up, we dont look down and walk just because we may loose some nice babe/dude passing by ;P. LOL! just kidding. Actually it is because we have so many problems in life that we keep thinking of that while we are walking rather than looking down on the road just to get some money :)

I keep my 1 pound as my lucky charm. It is quite lucky that I saw it. It was at night and the road wasn't brightly lit. I happen to look down and saw something round. I took a closer look and there it was - 1 pound.

I definitely collect money lying on the ground! Whenever I see change lying in the street or in the parking lot, sometimes I feel embarrassed because I get excited and even go out of my way to pick it up. All that loose change can add up after a while!
I don't live in a place where there are many homeless people asking for money, but whenever I have gone to the city and seen someone asking for change, I have made sure to give some to him or her.
I love collecting money for myself, but those people do need it more than I do...
