Wow....... i kinda framed this sentence this evening as I was driving on the way back home.
Is'nt it true. They say poison kills a poison. Likewise, only a hacker's brain can neutralize the damage done by another hacker.
Do you have a second opinion on this one ?

I agree with that. That's why many hackers are hired by big companies that build security and anti-virus software. In this matter, once you have been on one side you can easily go to the other side.
There is something that I learned not a long time ago. I always thought a hacker is a bad guy who writes code that can harm peoples PCs, documents, etc. But hacker is also someone who can builds code to customize an existing software to make it operate in another way, website to change the appearance.
For example: on blogger we only have a two column template on the website when we create our blog. But some people changed the code and added stuff so that it can be extended to a 3 column templates. These people are called hackers.

The reasoning is really quite simple, to catch a their you need to be able to think like a thief. It does make perfect sense to me. It is kind of scary in some cases though when you go to a profiler to catch a murderer.....do they think like a murderer to create the profile? If they do maybe they could be dangerous. The reasonng does have some complications as well iI guess.
