unsupportive husband...

So I just made a post about how I want to quit smoking. This post is about how my husband is being very unsupportive about it. I told him that there is a new pill out called Chantix that may help with smoking. I was given Zyban when I was pregnant and that worked great. He said that we're not gonna 'waste' money on getting me these pills that 'won't even work'. It is very upsetting to me that he is being like this. He said I need to quit on my own but obviously I can't. He smokes so I will still be around it all the time.

I'm sorry to hear that your husband is not being supportive of your decision. If it's a money problem, he should realize that spending money for you to quit now will probably save money in the long run. Here's a link to a site I found that helps people quit smoking. There are tips from experts and even a community of others that are trying to quit. There's even a counter that tells you how much money you're saving and how many years are being added to your life by quitting. I hope it helps you!! Good luck!! http://www.quitnet.com/

That is terrible that your husband is not being supportive but maybe he will come around. How does he know that these pills will not work for you? Don't know until you have tried them so I think he should at least let you try them for a little while and see if they help at all. He should try and stop smoking as well since second hand smoke is just as or more deadly than smoking.

Your husband sounds like a real delight. You said that the zyban "worked great" so obviously the pills work. Maybe you can refresh his memory about that? Or try another means like the patch or gums? I know that they aren't AS effective as pills, but they can help significantly. Anyway, I don't think it's a waste, especially if he smokes. Your child needs to have at least one parent who is healthy to look up to.
