Purchasing technological services

Have any of you ever needed help with getting something done on your computer or setting up all your audio equipment for your television? Do you believe that some people are just trying to rip you off or even just get into your home, as could have been the case in the recent Geek Squad incident. To some people, regardless of how much you know, you may need help at one point or another. I have dealt with these type services multiple times. Need to know a good price for a particular service or if you might be better off just doing it yourself... just ask. I am wanting to know what you all think about these type of electronic services and why or why not you think they are worth it?
