I'm dissapointed with the Mylot Community

This discussion may result in my rating suddenly becoming lower lol and before I continue it is not an attack on anyone here as I enjoy mylot and all of you.
Ok,I started a discussion a week ago entitled please help a sick child. It was regarding terminally ill children and how you could help. I was saddened that it did not receive one reply yet. Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions, but I don’t understand how it could have gone unnoticed?
This is a subject dear to my heart and one I'm sensitive about as I know too well what it is like to have a terminally ill child. I also know how important support is to those parents.
For me being able to make someone else smile is a wonderful feeling and I'm not just talking about making a child smile, but anyone.
My advice to you is not to miss the opportunity to make a positive influence in someone's life. It only takes a moment of your time. Today you can give someone a hug or praise someone for doing a job, feed a family or you can make a terminally ill child smile. Most importantly remember to make someone's day. The world would be a better place if we all performed a random act of kindness every now and then. Stop and think. What will your random act of kindness be today?

What page is it on of your discussions? I scrolled all the way thru, but didn't see it. I would like to respond anyway! Even if it is late :(
I have no idea why I didn't see it though.

that must have been when we went to my moms, i know when we got back i only went a couple pages into the view discussiions started by my friends. I shall have to go check it out now as my wife already has. By the way I like your discussions they are most often thought provoking instead of the inane posts trolling for lots of responses, keep it up!

Yea, some people don't respond to my discussions as well or just I get one reply which is sad. Actually I used to volunteer for Big Brothers and Big Sisters at a high school, but they deleted the high school from their program and only had elementary school, which I didn't feel too comfortable around little children. I also tutor an ESOL adult student. I also pay 22 USD per month to help a child in Ecuador through Children International. I try my best to make a difference in the world. Now, let me see about your discussion...

swtRose,, I can only speak for myself,, I haven't been active in Mylot for a while, so I didn't seen your previous post, but I find your message heartfelt and inspiring. While I don't personally know anyone in a terminal situation, I admire your attempt to raise attention. good luck and God Bless. I will do what I can.

I honestly don't think I even saw the notification that you started that discussion, but I have also been having issues with the mailing system on here for about a week now. I noticed that when I go in and look at discussions started by my friends there are about 10X more discussions started in a day then I get notification of. :( Frustrating...
I think that you are absolutely right in trying to help out all of the parents and children that are terminally ill. I sometimes wish I could do more than just a friendly smile and a warm hello, but I can't really help financially, and that seems to sometimes be the help that they need the most. (Doctor bills, medications, hospital stays, etc.)
My random act of kindness today has been to watch my neice all day for my sister in law so that she could have a day to herself for the first time in a while. May not seem like much to some people, but I know that we as parents and mom's can always use a little time away from our worries and troubles. :)

A lot of it, I feel is timing. If you post your New discussion sometimes later at night, they might get missed due to this being a Slower time at night, so I always try to post mine early in the morning here, or during the day usually. Also, you need to remember there are a lot of people of all ages, etc. posting here all of the time, so your Post probably just got overlooked.
Hopefully with this post, you might get a lot of hits on the other Article by now. I feel what is best here is to learn not to take things so personally, and go from there.

I had not seen it. I am sorry I missed that and am loading it now.
I do give a LOT of my time to children. Well, to girls. Girl Scouts that is. I am the leader of a troop, and the assistant leader of another.
Next year, I will be the leader of 2 girl scout troops, and assistant to another one.
I also do other service to my community and beyond. I am going to your other discussion now.

I will have to check that out. I missed it a long with many others that I miss out on every day. It does seem wierd that nobody respond I must say. I was wondering why that could be. One of course is that no matter how big someones problems are they are problems none the less and I am finding in my little part of the world; people are just plain over whelmed with life and if they can avoid knowing any more pain and heart ache they will because they have enough of their own. Not that that they don't reach out to what they hear and know about they do but I am just saying sometimes if people can choose to avoid it they will. Do you ever feel that way?

I am so sorry Swt. I did not see this post, if I had I would have jumped on it because like you, it is a personal issue. I have already responded to your other post about it so I won't repeat myself here.
The only excuse I have is that you haven't been on my friends radar for very long and I am still learning my way around. What does surprise me is my hubby, Elkhawk, didn't bring this to my attention. He knows how I feel so I am guessing he didn't see it either.

I guess he is ashamed of me lol. I don't think many people know, we try not to get involved with each other's discussion but when someone attacks him like they did today I jump on it, but a couple of people beat me to it.. thanks for being a good friend to him.

Swtrose, I am sorry that your rating got lowered...that really stinks!
I apologise for missing your discussion....but truthfully, I probably would not have responded to it...not because I do not care...I care very much!! too much sometimes...I feel great empathy for suffering to the point that it interrupts my life....not to the point of neglecting my family...but I do not sleep...I worry and pray.........
You know that mother in the neighborhood who always has a house full of kids, and friends in and out....who can be counted on when you need to talk or when you need a last minute babysitter or your husband is having his boss over and you need help in the kitchen....that person is me!!
I make a positive influence in someone's life every day....I want to "touch" people and I do...
I believe in random acts of kindness and have never had a moment of need in my life that I did not have someone there for me...so I believe in spreading the "wealth"...
My friend, I know that you have experienced first-hand the heartache of loosing a child and I can not even being to trly understand how that feels...but I do feel empathy for you...within the confines of the mind's abiliity to put myself in your shoes....I am so sorry, I wish that I could reach inside you and take the pain away....
God bless you, my friend....your strength is recognized.

I have not come across that discussion, and I find that interesting. You are right, we are human beings and we should do acts of kindness to our fellowmen. This is the essence of humanity...that's why even big corporations now have always added in their agenda the so-called social responsibility--which each adult should have. Little acts like visiting the sick, those who are in prison, donating to charity, talking to a lost friend, etc. etc. Even just a pat on the back of a colleague for a job well done, or just simply listening to a friend in need--all these are simple acts of kindness which may go unnoticed by people, but which I believe is seen by the Almighty.

I dont see a reason as to why mylot will take any action to you and your rating become lower. You have comeup with such a wonderful idea. You have shared with us nice thoughts. Anyone with good heart will feel the pain and agony a mother goes through after having a terminally ill child. All I can do is to pray and wish good for the suffered mother. May God give you strenght to become more stronger. Such things do happen, thats how how life goes about. Be happy with what you have, and dont be sad about what you dont have today. You might get all you wanted someday, and you'll not get it at all my friend. Cheers

I guess some people don't respond to every message posted on mylot. Others get upset with them for being so insensitive.
Oh well, guess that's myLot.

I never saw your discussion either but I dont understand why you would take it so personally. Its not your fault, but there have been so many scammers over the years that have used anything and everything (including sick/deprived/abused children) to make a few bucks, to the point where my brain is conditioned to not believe it anymore. Its sad but you shouldnt take it out on the mylot community, you should take it out on those who have made the situation this way.

I am reading your post right before I head out to do volunteer work today. I am going to go help a family less fortunate than my own for the next 8 hours. I don't know if that counts as random act or not, but at the end of the day, I feel good about what I have done.
