I worked full time for seven years before deciding to become a stay at home mom of three kids! There is a huge difference between the responsabilites of an eight hour job & a stay at home mom. When you are employed your children are at school or at a daycare, at work you get your ten minute breaks every two hours and an hour for lunch! When you are a stay at home mo you don't get those breaks, in fact, you are lucky if you get twenty minute to eat! There are so many things to do at home, on top of keeping an eye on the kids....When the kids take their nap, that becomes you time to pick up after the messess and prepare for super. To become a stay at home mom requires the ability to balance your time between chores, kids & paying the bills! I would welcome anyone to walk in my shoes for even a day if they felt any different.

I am a SAHM and have been for more than 10 years. My husband said that about me not doign anythign for years. Until he HAD to stay home---he had a work related injury. He got to see first hand just what I DO accomplish during a day. And then after the birth of my third child I was extremely sick and had to take on a lot of what I normally do and told me personally that he appologized for ever daying that and that I did more work in a single DAY then he did in 2 WEEKS. If people could change places with SAHMs I think their view would surely change!

I don't know why people have those types of attitudes towards stay at home moms.I am a stay at home mom myself and its the hardest job I have ever had.I have family members that act like this.Like the only thing I do is sit around watching tv,eating and sleeping. That is so far from the truth. At least when I worked outside the home I got a break from all those responsibilities. In the long run though I know it is definitely worth it.I don't want someone else raising my kids while I'm working.

I agree. I used to work 2 sometimes 3 jobs just to take care of my kids and to make sure they had everything when I was a single mom and now that I am married and I stay at home it feels like I work so much more. I am on my feet from before sun up until after the sun goes down. Either making food, feeding the kids, playing with kids, cleaning up after the kids, cleaning, laundry and making sure everything else is done as well. I like being home with my kids and the chance to be an at home wife and mommy but sometimes I think an outside job is so much easier than being a mommy.
