Let's face it. This is a MAJOR PROBLEM. Find the answers here on correct posture including great tips! How should you be seated? To the front? To the back? What positions should you avoid? What should you do in daily life to help? How should you sit up correctly from your chair? I could go on with the questions, but really you want the answers!
Here are some figures. Let's say the spine is loaded 100% standing. Sleeping is 25% pressure. Inversion is 0% pressure. (60% of bodyweight opposing gravity) For sitting, what do you think it is? Think for a second... It is 150% pressure on the spine. With that in mind, you now know it is critical to care for you back so it doesn't become a gigantic problem. So... sit right!
I came across an article at T-nation with the answer to my first questions also including things such as sleep position, properly picking things up, and deloading the spine. I thought it was so critical and such a generalized problem that I directly come over to myLot. www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1561783. This is a must read!
My back is always aching. :(. I recently have been trying to avoid sitting at the computer. I even thought of getting a stability ball to sit on, which I heard was great! So, I hope you read the article for your own sake. Do you have much back pain while at the computer?

Interesting. I have always wondered about the effects on the back. I had a job for years that was 100% on my feet for 12-14 hours a day. Now my job is done primarily sitting. It can definitely make for a sore back!
