Horses, by name

when you call to your dog he comes running wagging his tail and is so happy that your paying attention to him.. When you call to your cat here kitty kitty or using his name he is also happy and comes running.. But do horses do the same? Do they no their names and when you are talking to them? A horse is a beautiful animal, but do they make good pets?

Yes our horses know their names.If I yell to one you will see that ones ears perk up and it will look at me and if I call again will come running.If I whistle they all come running.Even our baby knows his name now.They are very smart, as smart as a dog or cat.

thank you for your reply this is so very interesting to my daughters and I. I didnt think anyone was gona reply for awhile, so we thank you for this information.
now do horses like to be rode ? do they enjoy having people sitting on them as much as people enjoy riding them ?
I am scared of horses, very beautiful animal but terrified to get close to one..
