The cat had her kittens!

We weren't expecting them quite yet and so hadn't been keeping her inside all the time. She disappeared on Thursday and came back today for just long enough to eat but was all skinny again. We looked in her usual hiding places but didn't find her or the kittens, she must have hidden them really well. She has a lot of white with patches of orange and black so we can't wait to see what the kittens look like!(The "father" is unknown) Since this is the first time we haven't gotten a cat inside before the birth I was hoping someone could give me a rough idea of how long it will be before she'll bring them out of hiding. I'm guess a few weeks when they have their eyes open and are walking more but wasn't sure. Any one experience something like this? I'd love to at least have something to look forward to if we don't find them sooner.

mother cats really give birth in hard to find places coz they think that their new-born kittens will be safe there... one of my female cat, i have two, gave birth to 3 kittens under our corner table in the living room, its really well-hidden and everytime i get the kitten out there, she take them back to that hiding-place again, mother's instinct i guess... so now, the kittens had their eyes and ears open and started to crawl out of their hiding place, i took them and placed them in a big open box so their mother can come in still and feed them... she didn't take them back to the old hiding place. i guess that when the kittens started to open their eyes and ears and they can crawl out by themselves, the mother can now let them. if your cat left them somewhere, i don't know if she will carry her kittens to your house, i really hope so coz the street is not safe for kittens. you could try to follow your cat outside coz she will still go back to that place to feed her kittens. good luck!

I tried following her when she was around but all she would do was rub up against me and sit on my feet! She's such a silly cat. Luckily the property is way out in the country, probably 5-6 acres of land, so it's pretty safe from cars. The two houses are on the very backside of the property, up on a hill, and across a creek, so there's no way little kittens could get anywhere near the road even when they do start crawling out on their own. I've narrowed down the possibilities really well and am pretty sure I know where they are. I decided to leave them alone for now because I don't want to scare her and cause her to move them. The place I think she picked is really safe, out of the weather and impossible for the neighbors dog to get to (he/she gets loose constantly!) so I want them to stay there until they get a little older. Having them in the house would be ideal in some ways BUT I do have to think about how protective mother cats can be and I'm not sure how she would react to our little boys since they would have a very hard time staying away from the kittens if they were inside.

Well between the two household on the same property there are only two cats and this new batch of kittens. Since we haven't found them yet I'm not sure how many cats total we actually have. Probably it will be 4 or 5 total including the kittens but we already have more people asking for them than were probably born so we'll be back down to just the two once these are old enough to go to new homes...unless one happens to be all black, then I'm keeping it. I had a black cat when I was younger and he was the best cat I've ever seen and would love to have another one.

My son's cat had her kittens outside. But if I remember right, it was a long time before they started coming out. I think the weather was kind of cool, so that could be why. The only problem they had was due to the kittens not seeing a human early in life, and the kittens would run from everyone and if you did catch one, they ripped your hand apart. I really hope you find them and bring them inside. I would be worried about other outside animals.

I'm a little worried about other animals too. Mostly we just have lots of rabbits and deer running around but other animals will start poking around if they think "free food" is around. The mother cat was a really mean kitten for the same reasons yours were. She calmed down a lot over they last few months though and now she won't leave me alone! The two times I saw her yesterday she was literally sitting on my feet to rub against me! It's warmer now so maybe it won't take too long for her to bring them out. The little boys (well mostly the 4 year old) are so excited to see them. He wouldn't understand why I wasn't just spending all day looking for them because he wants to see them so bad!

As soon as I find them I'll take a picture to post here. It could be awhile from the sounds of it though so be patient! I hope it's soon though, I'm not sure how patient I can be!
