Anethesia - Are you afraid of being put under?

I have had numerous surgeries. If I can remember correctly I have been put under nine different times. However, the process of preparing to go under anethesia never gets easier for me. I still fear it. On the other hand, I have spoke with some people that say they looked forward to having some uninterupted sleep. Not me.
How about you? Have you ever been put under anethesia? If so did you fear it, look forward to it, or were you indifferent about it? If you have never been put under how do you think you would feel if the situation were to arise?

I have been put under several times during my life. I always feel bad when I come around again, but would rather than than be awake and aware of having things done.
Last year, after a heart attack I had to have an angiogram. This is where they pust a wire with a camera up through an artery to look inside your heart. The idea of this was scary and I really wanted to go to sleep, but it was not be. I was surprised, it didn't hurt at all and was nothing.
I was 6 years old when I was first put under by gas. It was in the dentist and I was OK until I felt I was suffocating. I started struggling and fighting and that made it worse as they just pinned be down until I was out. The next time, I felt, "oh well, I can't do anything about it", and just surrendered to having the gas - it was easy from them on and have had it many times by gas and injection.

I am definitely afraid of being put under anesthesia. I haven't had to up until now, but I was supposed to have oral surgery a while ago and I had the option of being put under or just a local anesthetic and I chose local. I think I'm afraid of not coming out of it or having something bad happen while I'm under.

I have several surgeries and I also hate the anethesia. I also hate the waking up after it I woke up one time before they took the tube out of my lungs. It was the worst feeling in the world. YUCK!
My last surgery was a nose job to fix a broken nose. I had been having sinuse problems for years, I had a bone spur growing against my sinus cavity which was causing a lot of pain. Once my nose was fixed I have not had the sinus problems that I use to have.
I am an RN so I have seen my share of surgeries and I did not like that also, I did not mind working with the patients after there were recovered but I did not like the surgery or recovery part of the process.
