Elvis. Definitely. Not many a country hasn't heard of him..and there's a large mass of fans for him..EVERYWHERE. The Beatles are close second for the same reason. There's LOADS of merchindise still made in their name, and they continue to be hot sellers. The backstreet boys? Alot of folks these days, younger ones at least..have never even heard of them. From my own experience anyways. But nearly EVERYONE's heard about Elvis or the Beatles. Heard some of their songs..even if it was only when they were younger.

The beatles were the biggest band ever. Everyone knows at least one song of the Beatles. But I would have to say also that everything that were coming from Motown in the 60's and 70's were great. All band included like the supreme, tempatation, jackson 5, marvin gaye. They all inspire today's greatest singer and band :)

Hmm... I guess people have already answered your question. I think Elvis was really popular, but one person who everyone seems to know about from every country has gotta be Michael Jackson. I'm surprised that no one mentioned him yet. I mean think about it, everyone in the world must know at least one song of his, and would definitely have heard of him, and no matter what people say or think about him now, you gotta admit, his music was good while it lasted... He's definitely more popular than the backstreet boys and the spice girls, combined.

Yeah, well, I'm not a big fan of MJ myself, but that doesn't change the fact that he's famous the world over. And you were talking about most popular artist, so....

Yeah I think the common answer is the Beatles, followed by the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Queen, ABBA. I don't think any modern bands have come close to these phenomena. Not yet anyway.

The question is who is more popular.the Beatles are indeed the most popular. And so are ABBA and queen.I dont think AC/DC and the rolling stones can make their way upto the list.Besides i hate AC/DC.lol

Well it may depend on who you ask. I don't like the Rolling Stones but most people who were rebels in the late 60's love them. I can only listen to 10 minutes of AC/DC before it's just too much for my head! I like the Beatles but not all their songs. I like Queen but not all their songs. I like ABBA but not all their songs. Hmmm. I don't think I have a favourite at all! I pick the best songs and put them together and that does me fine.

Bob Dylan and The Beatles. If somehow you've never heard a bob dylan or beatles song, you've definitely heard someone else sing one.
